Little guys Ace & Jack arrived at NCCR on 7/17/26, transferred from an overcrowded facility that ran out of space for them. They are both neutered male Chihuahuas (mix?), just 7-8 months old, and they are currently about 10 Ibs. each. They will likely grow slightly larger over the next few months, but are expected to stay small. They reportedly get along fine with most other dogs, and can be adopted as a pair or separately. Ace is now listed separately. More pictures and info as we get to know them better.*Approved applicants are welcome to participate in our popular Slumber Party program and take a dog home for up to 2 weeks to make sure he/she is a great fit.  If you think you might be interested in adopting, your first step should be to complete an Adoption Application at www.caninerescue.org. *After you have completed your application, you will get a confirmation that we have received your application. It takes a lot of time to process the applications, so we ask for your patience while we do so. If you see that the dog you were interested in has been adopted it means there were many applications for that dog and we did not get as far processing your application before a home was found. We welcome you to apply again when you see another dog that interests you. If you have a question, please email us at adoptions@caninerescue.org. It is much easier and quicker for us to respond by email as we receive many phone calls each day.We do adopt out of state, however we do not transport or ship dogs. Potential adopters must be able and willing to travel to the Rescue to meet the dog they are interested in.*PLEASE double check all of the phone numbers that you provide. If they are incorrect, we will not be able to process your application. Please also let your references know that someone from NCCR will be calling them. Most adoption team members call from their personal phone, so advise your references that there may be an unknown or private number calling them. Thank you!

Hi, I’m Sid, a 10-pound Chihuahua mix with soulful eyes and a very sweet heart. I’m only 2 years old, so I still have plenty of happy adventures ahead of me, but I’m also just the right size to curl up close when it’s time to relax. I arrived as a stray, and now I’m ready to trade uncertainty for a family of my own. I’ve done wonderfully in testing with both dogs and cats, so I may be a lovely fit for a home with furry friends. Hi there, I’m Roscoe, a 16 pound gentleman with little legs, a bright spark, and a whole lot of personality packed into one very handsome black and white package. I’m 4 years old, housetrained, and I walk nicely on leash, which makes me a pretty easy little sidekick to have around. I also happen to be an excellent blanket burrower, so if you’ve got a soft spot for a dog who likes to tuck himself in and get cozy, we may be a perfect match. I’ve lived with two small dogs before and did well, and while I might grumble a bit when meeting unfamiliar dogs, but I'm not trouble after that. I’m feeling so much better these days and ready to enjoy life. I’ve got a sweet, spirited nature and a signature move that really seals the deal, I sit up on my hind legs and paw at the air when I want your attention. It’s my own charming little dance, and yes, I know it’s adorable. I’d love a home with someone who appreciates a dog with a bit of spice, a lot of heart, and plenty of love to give. I’m a super senior Chihuahua mix, just 12 pounds, and I’ve got that quiet, tender kind of charm that makes people want to protect me and give me a safe place to live out my golden years.
