Pookie is a tiny 5.4 lb male, while Roxy is a 24 lb female who could stand to lose a few pounds! 😆 These two find comfort in each other and are happiest side by side. Sparrow is a 7‑year‑old Pug/Chihuahua mix weighing 15 pounds, and she’s as gentle and affectionate as they come. This sweet‑natured girl loves nothing more than belly rubs, a good scratch behind her ears, and a warm lap to snuggle on. She thrives on human affection and is happiest when she’s close to her people. Sparrow gets along well with the dogs in her social group, enjoying their company while still preferring quiet moments of one‑on‑one attention. Her calm, loving demeanor makes her a wonderful companion for someone looking for a tender, devoted little friend. Sparrow has Cushing’s disease, which means she will require lifelong medication to keep her healthy and comfortable. She handles her routine well, and with proper care, she can continue to live a happy, full life.

Sandy is a sweet 10‑year‑old Chihuahua mix who is searching for a very special home. She is a shy girl who needs someone patient and understanding—someone willing to earn her trust at her own pace. Sandy will require lifelong heart medications (approximately $100/month) and joint supplements, but with the right care, she can live comfortably and happily. Once she feels safe, Sandy enjoys a good scratch behind her ears and loves snuggling into a soft plush bed. Because of her size and timid nature, Sandy needs a home with no children under 12.

Little Bit is an 8‑year‑old Chihuahua mix weighing 16 pounds with a tender heart and a gentle soul. She came to us from a hoarding situation and is currently carrying a few extra pounds, so she’s looking for a loving home that will help her slim down through mild, regular exercise and a healthy routine. She can be a bit shy at first, but once Little Bit earns your trust, she blossoms into an affectionate companion who loves being close to her person. James Avery (male) Breed:   Chihuahua DOB:  6/17/2026 Current weight:  2.65 pounds Size potential:   Mother, Tilly Sue (since adopted), is 7.6 pounds.  His father, who we believe is Milo (since adopted), was 4.14 pounds.  There were several unaltered male Chihuahuas in the home but all were small.  Milo being the father is a guess.  We suspect James Avery will be somewhere between those two weights fully grown. Good with other dogs: yes Cats: yes Health issues:   IMPORTANT!  POTENTIAL GLUCOSE ISSUES DUE TO TINY SIZE!!   Sweet & Steady Needed!    James Avery requires a little extra attentive care due to potential glucose (blood sugar) fluctuations.  He needs a dedicated PERSON who can maintain a strict, CONSISTENT feeding schedule and recognize the subtle signs of low blood sugar, such as lethargy, wobbliness, or sudden sleepiness.  His future family should keep a high-calorie supplement like Nutri-Cal on hand for a quick, reliable energy boost if his blood sugar dips.   With REGULAR, CONSISTENT meals, a watchful eye, and a little extra love, this sweet pup will thrive and live a completely happy, playful life. Biography: PLEASE keep in mind your AGE! Despite what you may want, we want YOU to outlive the pup… not the other way around! Puppies (especially small-breed) can live 15-20 years! James Avery was born to Tilly Sue on June 17th, 2026, in the watchful foster home of Michele, one of our long-time volunteers and board members.  Tilly Sue came to us with three other Chihuahuas from animal control.  There were eight all-together, four of which went to another rescue.  Two came to us pregnant.  Once Tilly Sue delivered her puppies, we suspected immediately that Milo was the daddy, since all but one were white with brown spots (a little mixture of Tilly Sue and Milo we suspect).  James Avery's foster mom reports that he's playful, fun, curious, entertaining and all puppy!   As you can see from the video, he doesn't let his tiny size get in the way of a good time!  James Avery needs a home where he'll be monitored to make sure he is eating well, who does not have a lot of other distractions to keep them from monitoring him, who has the means to involve a veterinarian should the need arise, etc.   Tiny puppies like James Avery need extra attention and monitoring until they get out of the puppy stage.  Even as an adult, they can have blood sugar issues, so keeping Nutri-Cal on hand is so important.  There are other options, but Nutri-Cal is our go-to.   If you think you have the means, the time, the love and the ability to care for him and make him part of your happy family, we welcome your application! SPAY/NEUTER REBATE PROGRAM: Due to the age of this pet, he/she may not be spayed/neutered at the time of adoption. If this is the case, you will receive a $50 rebate coupon which will entitle you to a rebate of $50 once your pet is spayed/neutered and valid ONLY IF DONE ON OR BEFORE 6 MONTHS OF AGE! It is REQUIRED and part of our adoption contract that all unaltered pets be spayed/neutered no later than 6 months of age and we DO follow up! PUPPIES! Keep in mind, puppies teeth just like human babies and have little sharp toenails. They will also have behaviors that require training. Puppies will cry, chew, bite, mouth, nip, bark, destroy, dig, scratch, etc. The puppy phase lasts about 18 months (sometimes longer), so be sure you ARE READY for the commitment! Don't even think about applying if you have any doubts about raising a puppy... and don't expect children to take care of the puppy... because they won't! This needs to be an adult decision and an adult commitment. POTTY TRAINING: A puppy can only hold their bladder for a short period of time based upon their age. If the puppy is 2 months old, they can hold their bladder for 2 hours; 3 months/3 hours; 4 months/ 4 hours, etc., up to 6 months of age. At about 6 months of age, this time frame stables out. Puppies are a 10-15 year commitment (sometimes longer). Please be sure you are prepared for the life of the puppy!
