Story
Dante, Adult Male, 9 pounds, Richmond VA- Local Adoptions Only-SPECIAL NEEDS Meet Dante! This cutie patootie is a 23-month blue and tan Chihuahua that is looking for a very special family with Chi or small dog experience. Chihuahuas are tiny dogs with huge personalities and big dog attitude and this boy is no exception!! He LOVES playing with his toys and he loves being with his people. He loves to snuggle close and feel safe and he is a HUGE kisser to everyone he meets! He has the most expressive eyes so when he turns on the charm, you are putty in his paws! Dante responds well to positive training methods and never tires of hearing what a good boy he is, so we would recommend a basic training class to help with boundaries and structure for him as this clever boy will rule your household like a little Napoleon! (he is going to do that anyway) Dante does likes kids, but these little ones are not made for roughhousing and he can be possessive of his things sometimes, so an adult home for this boy is preferred. While they come across as tough, they are quite fragile and care has to be taken to keep them protected from harm, themselves, and the weather, especially the cold! Unfortunately, he is not a fan of coats or sweaters and will need a lot positive reinforcement (and lots of treats) when sporting outdoor gear. He does love his blankets though and likes to bury himself in them! Dante is crate trained, it’s like his little kingdom in there, and he eats in his crate. He can resource guard his food sometimes (although is doing much better) so having a safe place to eat is important for him. He is housebroken, but you do have to keep an eye on him especially if he has been playing a lot but he will try and let you know. He also loves to go for rides in the car and does well, but he would do best in car seat with a tie to keep him in place. Dante does not do well with other dogs and would prefer to rule your house alone and be your one and only! He is also not afraid to let other dogs know how he feels about them, so this little guy is going to need a family that has his back at all times and will make sure to keep him safe and out of trouble! He does love to go for an occasional short leash walk, but he needs his space from other dogs when out on the walk so a busy city home with lots of pet traffic is not the best for this little guy. This boy likes they laid back vibe of a suburban home with a fenced yard for the occasional romp and zoomies! That would make him the happiest! If you think Dante might be the one and only for you, please go to www.momsva.org and complete an application.

Story
Meet Miss Summer.  This extremely sweet little lady had a hard first 6 years as she endured all kinds of filth and neglect living in the home or a hoarder.  She had 20 other dogs to keep her company so she is great with other dogs.  The horrible conditions did not adversely affect Miss Summer too much.  While she is a little shy, she still has the bright and sweet personality her name reflects.  She has experienced so much since going to her foster home and is growing more confident every day.  Since she really has had no life experiences everything is new to her.  She is getting used to riding in the car as she has already been to the vet twice.  Her foster mom is attempting to teach her to walk on a leash.  It is a slow go but as Summer gains confidence she will improve.  This little lady is a little cuddle bug and loves to be with her foster mom.  She does sleep with her as her foster brothers and sister do.  Summer's favorite place is on the back of the couch.  She is quite the athletic one and easily jumps from the floor to the chair to the back of the couch.  She can definitely see what is going on from her perch.  Summer has learned that you do 'your business' outside. On day 6 she started  'going' outside and also started doing zoomies around the yard.  Summer loves to lay in the sun so a fenced in yard is key to her happiness.  She loves her foster brothers and sister and warms up quickly to new people.  You just have to talk softly to her and take your time.  Even when her tail is between her legs it is wagging.  That shows you how sweet she really is.  This little lady loves to smell you first then give your hand little kisses.  She is much more about the people than the other dogs.  If you are looking for a precious little lady to add to your family, then please consider Miss Summer.  You will make a huge difference in her life and you won't be sorry.  Summer is spayed, current on all her shots, heartworm negative and microchipped.  She also now has pearly white teeth as she has had a dental.  To be considered for Summer's forever family please contact Vivienne at viviennejames@comcast.net.  APPROVED APPLICATION AND ADOPTION FEE REQUIRED.  (Summer is currently in Tennessee but can be transported north upon adoption.)May 15, 2024, 9:58 am

Story
Rodney is a very curious, mischievous little guy who gets into everything, just like a little puppy. They say this guy is around 8 years of age and weighs 12 pounds, but he acts like a kid and he shows it by running a lot out of pure joy and fun and he adores being outdoors and laying in the sun. He is not good on a leash yet and is not housebroken but we are working on both. Cats are not welcome in his world at this point because he finds them strange and annoying.  But he redeems himself with a family by loving to cuddle and snuggle.  Can you believe that underbite he has?  I mean it is the first thing you sort of notice about him.  It might make him look tough but Rodney is a 'softie' through and through.  He is just an adorable, sweet pup and he deserves a much better home than the hoarding conditions that he came from.  Maybe you want to help him see the blessings of a new home and secure lifestyle.  He will make you laugh, he will make you smile and he will make you feel loved!  Please email Critter Cavalry Rescue at ccrnewengland@gmail.com if you are interested in giving him a forever home.  Please tell us the city and state that you live in when you write to us. PLEASE NOTE:   Our dogs and cats are fostered in Tennessee and can transport weekly up to the Northeast region.  Request an application and learn more about Critter Cavalry at https://www.crittercavalry.com/adoption.May 15, 2024, 9:58 am

Story
Sam Silver is a handsome and most unusually colored Chihuahua boy that is only 5 years old and a perfect size at just 12 pounds.  This boy is an athlete and can climb any mountain and jump across any river.  Thus we call him .....a little escape artist. He loves being outside and laying in the sun where he is cultivating his summer tan.  This guy gets along with people, other dogs but has decided that cats are NOT his cup of tea.  He loves to terrorize the foster cats who are smart, fast and not about to get caught. If they leave his room then he is fine.  That is all he wants.  Sam Silver is good on a leash and we are working on housebreaking. He’s a snuggler both on the couch and as a bed bug under the covers at nighttime. He’s just so much fun to watch as he explores this new foster home after he escaped the tiny God forbidden shelter he was in because his owner was a terrible hoarder with a nasty environment.  He deserves a peaceful and fun family.  Is that you?  Please email us at ccrnewengland@gmail.com if you are interested.  Please tell us where you live, city and state.  We transport from Tennessee to many places in the northeast.    PLEASE NOTE:   Our dogs and cats are fostered in Tennessee and can transport weekly up to the Northeast region.  Request an application and learn more about Critter Cavalry at https://www.crittercavalry.com/adoption.May 15, 2024, 9:58 am

Story
Hi my name is Poppy.  I am a super sweet 2 year old chihuahua.  I am the best little girl you will ever find.  My foster mom says that I am so easy to care for.  I get along great with all the other dogs in my foster home whether they are small like me or bigger.  I am a little afraid of the really big one though and would definitely prefer a home with doggies my size.  I am also very good with the cats.  I was not house trained when I was first rescued but am doing so much better now.  We are in & out a lot and that has definitely helped.  As you can see from my pictures I love to be outside.  I am never out there alone though as I am too small to be safe.  I don't want one of those big birds to get me.  I would love a mom and dad that like to be outside and who will hang out there with me.  Maybe they would even take me for walks!!  I would love that.  A small fenced in area would be great too.  That way I can get my daily smells in.  I am spayed, current on all my shots, heartworm negative and microchipped.  To be considered for my forever family and to request an application please contact Vivienne at viviennejames@comcast.net.  APPROVED APPLICATION AND ADOPTION FEE REQUIRED.  (Poppy is currently in Tennessee and can be transported north upon adoption.)May 15, 2024, 9:58 am

Story
Alfie is a darling 4 month old, Chihuahua pup who lives up to all expectations you might have in a Chi pup.   He is a feast for the eyes in the adorable category and so very affectionate in the cuddling category.  He is such a little doll.  At 4 months he weighs 8 lbs. and full of personality.  This puppy is always in a good mood and Alfie plays well with other dogs, and fine with cats.  Older children in a family is more desirable than toddlers who might not understand how small and delicate he is.  He is so little and so tempting to squeeze on him like a toy.  He is a great people dog, and everyone who meets him instantly falls in love with that face and darling personality.  Alfie uses the puppy pads like a champ at this time, but is learning to housebreak.  He enjoys car rides, romping with other dogs, or just laying on your lap for a short time.  Being a typical puppy, he won’t lay long, but long enough for you get your lap fix.  Alfie is neutered, UTD on all vaccinations, microchipped, and ready for a family to grow up with.  Are you the one that Alfie is looking for?  Write to Critter Cavalry Rescue at ccrnewengland@gmail.com and ask us for an adoption application.
