Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. This is Bean. He’s a chiweenie . He came to us from a hoarding house a while back. Bean has some preferences for his forever home. He wants to be the only dog. No men, cats, or people with hats! (He’s going to write a Dr. Seuss book for little neurotic dogs ). Kids are weird and must be barked at endlessly, so probably he doesn’t want to live with any of those, either. Bean’s foster mom reports that Bean would happily stay under the covers in bed for days at a time. Bean is 5-6 years old and about 6 pounds. He’s a very sweet boy (if you aren’t any of the things he hates that are clearly outlined above ) . He has this little trick where he puts his paws to his chest for treats and spins Bean's adoption fee is $300 and he is fully vetted including a recent dental. You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.Harper is big fan of toys and other dogs, but is a bit skiddish around humans.  She absolutely needs another doggie friend.  She doesn't bark a ton, but she does bark at strangers some. Harper started out her life as a feral dog in a field, so she's made tremendous progress!    Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.October 13, 2024, 4:16 pm

Story
On June 12, 46 dogs were saved from a "rescue" in Patrick County where they were living in crates and outdoor kennels and not being properly cared for. As you know we have a special place in our hearts for Patrick County Public Animal Shelter and were able to help them by taking six of the dogs into our program! Meet Little Miss, who is now ready for adoption! Little Miss is a 13 pound, mixed breed diva who is guessed to be about 10-12 months old. Little Miss has a big personality but she's no little lap dog! She is scared of new people and prefers to keep her distance. She is learning so many things in her foster home but will need someone who understands that she did not come from a normal environment and will need basic training and time to adjust. Little Miss is comforted by the presence of other dogs and will need at least one other and a fenced in yard to be happy. She is a lucky little miss and is ready to start the search for her furEVER home! Augusta Dog Adoptions is a 501c3, foster-based rescue. We take applications online and schedule adoptions in Waynesboro, VA. A $175.00 adoption fee ($300 for puppies under 6 months old) helps us take care of all the dogs we rescue. All dogs are spayed/neutered, tested for heartworm and tick borne diseases (if old enough), microchipped, and vaccinated for rabies (if old enough), distemper/parvo and bordetella. They are also treated for internal and external parasites. Many dogs also receive extensive medical care such as dental work and major surgeries. Story
Name: Leroy Age: 1 year Breed: Chihuahua Size: 12 lbs Adoption Application: https://forms.gle/nuKXoMu6gjS5DhFm8 Contact: transport@hssm.org Meet Leroy, a 1-year-old Chihuahua with a big personality packed into a small frame. He’s alert, curious, and full of spunky charm that keeps life entertaining. When he first came to the Humane Society of South Mississippi as a stray he was scared and unsure of his surroundings. After going slow with him and socializing with people he has come out of his shell a bit. Leroy enjoys being close to his people and loves soaking up attention once he feels comfortable. He has that classic Chihuahua confidence and would thrive in a home that understands that he likes to be near by but does not want a whole lot of affection. He would do best in a home with no small children and with older adults. If you’re looking for a compact companion with character, loyalty, and lots of love to give, Leroy is ready to make himself right at home. Leroy's $350 adoption fee includes spay/neuter, up to date vaccines, microchip AND transport fee to a location near you. We currently have transportation to CT, MD, NJ, NY, PA, VA, GA, and TN. Please email transport@hssm.org for more information on transports! --> If you are interested in adopting Leroy please fill out our online application here: (https://forms.gle/nuKXoMu6gjS5DhFm8 - Dog). A staff member will reach out if your application is approved to discuss the adoption process. No fenced in yard required, and YES - we adopt to families with children! The adoption will not be final until the adoption contract is discussed and signed. Transports are arranged for specific dates, typically within 1-3 weeks of approving your application. Adopters will meet at a designated meeting spot to pick up their new companions. For further information, please first fill out the application referenced above. **Due to import regulations we are not able to adopt to MA or RI residents at this time.
