Story
On June 12, 46 dogs were saved from a "rescue" in Patrick County where they were living in crates and outdoor kennels and not being properly cared for. As you know we have a special place in our hearts for Patrick County Public Animal Shelter and were able to help them by taking six of the dogs into our program! Meet Little Miss, who is now ready for adoption! Little Miss is a 13 pound, mixed breed diva who is guessed to be about 10-12 months old. Little Miss has a big personality but she's no little lap dog! She is scared of new people and prefers to keep her distance. She is learning so many things in her foster home but will need someone who understands that she did not come from a normal environment and will need basic training and time to adjust. Little Miss is comforted by the presence of other dogs and will need at least one other and a fenced in yard to be happy. She is a lucky little miss and is ready to start the search for her furEVER home! Augusta Dog Adoptions is a 501c3, foster-based rescue. We take applications online and schedule adoptions in Waynesboro, VA. A $175.00 adoption fee ($300 for puppies under 6 months old) helps us take care of all the dogs we rescue. All dogs are spayed/neutered, tested for heartworm and tick borne diseases (if old enough), microchipped, and vaccinated for rabies (if old enough), distemper/parvo and bordetella. They are also treated for internal and external parasites. Many dogs also receive extensive medical care such as dental work and major surgeries. Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. This is Bean. He’s a chiweenie . He came to us from a hoarding house a while back. Bean has some preferences for his forever home. He wants to be the only dog. No men, cats, or people with hats! (He’s going to write a Dr. Seuss book for little neurotic dogs ). Kids are weird and must be barked at endlessly, so probably he doesn’t want to live with any of those, either. Bean’s foster mom reports that Bean would happily stay under the covers in bed for days at a time. Bean is 5-6 years old and about 6 pounds. He’s a very sweet boy (if you aren’t any of the things he hates that are clearly outlined above ) . He has this little trick where he puts his paws to his chest for treats and spins Bean's adoption fee is $300 and he is fully vetted including a recent dental. Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.Harper is big fan of toys and other dogs, but is a bit skiddish around humans.  She absolutely needs another doggie friend.  She doesn't bark a ton, but she does bark at strangers some. Harper started out her life as a feral dog in a field, so she's made tremendous progress!    Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.October 13, 2024, 4:16 pm

Story
Medical Foster Spotlight: Sadie (aka Mavis) Looking for a foster (or foster-to-adopt)! Meet Sadie, also known as Mavis—a sweet little senior Chihuahua with the cutest underbite you’ll ever see. At around 10 years old and under 10 lbs, she may be tiny, but she has a big personality and an even bigger heart. Sadie has several upcoming procedures: senior bloodwork, cherry eye surgery, a spay, dental surgery, and a mammary mass removal. Because of all these medical needs, she deserves to be in a quiet, loving foster home where she can relax and heal between appointments. She is super sweet, loves people, and would thrive in a calm environment where she can soak up love and snuggles. She is currently intact and still goes into heat, so it’s important her foster can keep her safe until she is spayed. We are looking for a foster in or near Louisa County, VA, or someone willing and able to travel for her surgeries. As always, fosters have the first option to adopt once the pet is medically cleared and ready for adoption. ? If you can open your home to Sadie during this critical time, please fill out our foster application today! ? Apply here: https://new.shelterluv.com/matchme/adopt/HPAW/Dog ? Questions? Email us at adoptions@hoovesandpaws.org
