Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. Hi. I’m Brownie. I’m a 2-year-old little Chi fellow with 15 pounds of pure love and what everyone calls “old soul eyes.” I’m not totally sure what that means… but when I look at you, people say they can feel it. Maybe it’s because I’ve already learned that the best thing in life is having someone to belong to. I’m fully vetted and ready for my forever home. Healthy, neutered, and all up to date — just waiting for my person. I get along nicely with other dogs. I’m polite and sweet and happy to share my space. Cats? Well… I probably like them a little too much. I find them very interesting. So a dog-savvy cat (or a home without cats) might be best for everyone’s peace. I walk beautifully on a leash — I’m small but I’ve got great manners out there. I’m still working on my housetraining, but I’m smart and I want to make you proud. With a little patience and a routine, I’ll get it down. My favorite thing? Snuggling. I am a professional cuddler. Couch time, lap time, bedtime — if you’re sitting, I’m fitting. If you’re sad, I’m there. If you’re happy, I’m there too. I may be little, but my heart is big. I’m ready to love someone with everything I’ve got. Are you my person?    Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.February 19, 2026, 11:49 am

Story
Meet Ruby! This sweet young lady is everything wrapped up in one adorable little package. Ruby was rescued from a hoarding situation where she lived with many dogs in a small apartment with very little human interaction. Because of that, the world is still new to her — but she’s learning every day that it can be a safe and happy place. Ruby bonds easily with other dogs and truly thrives with canine companionship. She looks to other dogs for comfort and guidance, and meeting new dog friends is her absolute favorite thing! A confident, friendly dog in her forever home would help her continue to blossom. If you’re looking for a dog who instantly bonds with people, Ruby may not be your girl just yet. She needs a patient, loving, and understanding home that will give her the time and space to build trust at her own pace. Once she feels safe, you’ll see her sweet and silly personality shine. Ruby may be slow to trust, but she’s incredibly observant and learns quickly. From chasing her own shadow to hopping up on her hind legs to catch a moth, her goofy curiosity and innocent spirit will absolutely melt your heart. With patience, love, and a cozy spot to curl up at night, Ruby will grow into the most loyal and devoted companion. Local adoption only $200 (in TX)

Story
Baby Bat embodies the personality, uniqueness and likeness of the Batman. First, he works alone. No sidekicks or partners. He prefers solitude and his space. Baby Bat has lived with his foster and her dog pack for 5 years, he gets along with them but tolerates them at most. He would do well in a home where he is the only dog, no children, and adults only. Next, Baby Bat is an apex predator. Which means he needs his sleep and food and not to be interrupted or coddled when given either. Baby Bat is not a lap or cuddly dog. Finally, did we mention Baby Bat is a Chihuahua mix? That's a really important detail! Baby Bat is a great and loyal dog seeking a great family to adopt him! Local adoption fee is $200 (in TX) Out of state adoption fee is $400 (includes transport to your area - $50 Temporary Fuel Charge will be added)

Story
Meet Kenny, a gentle, Chihuahua mixed boy around 2 years old with a harsh past and a bright future. As a cuddly and shy guy, Kenny cherishes quiet moments and gentle affection. He came from an overpacked home with too many animals and too little resources. Due to this, he takes his time to warm up and trust new friends, making each step in his journey special. Once you earn his trust, Kenny`s loyalty and love are boundless. He is an absolute cuddle bug and loves staying curled up on the couch for hours. He is still figuring out a leash and potty training, but with enough patience and positive interaction he gets better everyday. Kenny will need someone with a quiet home and lots of love and patience. Adopting Kenny means giving him a chance to experience the love and security he deserves, allowing him to fully blossom into a devoted companion!Kenny has been neutered, microchipped, vaccinated, and kept current on monthly preventatives. For the first steps of adoption submit an application here: https://humanesocietyofwilkes.org/adopt/application. For questions you can email the foster home at julianshumate@gmail.com.
