Story
Bella (b. 7/2018), a Chihuahua/Dachshund Mix, is a bit misunderstood. Here's the thing with Bella, she LOVES her people and is a complete sweetheart who enjoys snuggling, playing in the backyard, and giving kisses and has done well with other dogs in her own home. However, she is a bit more particular when it comes to strangers and new dogs. Bella can get overprotective and has tried to use her teeth to deter new people from getting too close to her and, in some instances, has bitten. Bella has a good heart and will need an owner with lots of patience and willing to put in the work. Bella will need some training to help with her reactivity and how she responds to new people. She needs a well-fitted harness because if she can wiggle her way out of it and run, she will. Bella would prefer an adult-only home with somebody who works from home or is home often that can let her outside for frequent potty breaks, as her bladder can leak if you let it get too full - this may be due to her previous pregnancy or hysterectomy. Bella is really just looking for a family that will be understanding of her and take her for lots of walks with snuggles afterward! The suggested adoption donation for Bella is $265. Muddy Paws is a 501c3 non-profit organization which means that part of your donation MAY be TAX DEDUCTIBLE. We are a 100% volunteer rescue committed to giving animals a second chance at life. All donations go toward that mission. Adoption fees are the primary source of funding for the cost of veterinary care for our animals.  In 2020 alone, we were able to provide animal Healthcare costing over $241,000 covered mainly through adoption fees. Please Note: A Courtesy Post designates that an animal is still in the home of its owner and not in a Muddy Paws foster. This means that our exposure to the animal is limited since we are only assisting the owner in finding a new home for their pet. If needed, we will put you in touch with the owner if you have any questions. Information about the adoption process: All adoptions require a completed ADOPTION APPLICATION. Once your application is approved, we will put you in touch with the animal’s foster to see if you and the pet are a good match. If so, we will arrange a meeting for you and the animal. The adoptions for all of our animals will take place in the Omaha, NE area and must be done by the adoptive family in person. We do not ship or deliver.  Please Note: We are a RESCUE, which is different from a shelter. We conduct veterinary and personal reference checks during the application approval process. We always select the right applicant for each animal, based on the animal’s needs. If you and the animal are not a good match, we will help you select another animal, or we will keep your approved application on file for 6 months.  To learn about Muddy Paws Second Chance Rescue or donate to our animals, please visit our website at MuddyPawsSecondChanceRescue.com or our Facebook Page. ##1469617##

Story
Say hello to this sweet senior Chihuahua, Eloise (b. 11/2010).  This sweet girl needs a loving home that will understand she needs a home to live out the rest of her years. She loves attention and wants to be your lap dog. She is not fully potty trained but has been doing well with going out frequently and in doggy diapers. She will let you know when she has to potty with a bark and doing in circles. She is blind and deaf.  We have noticed that she can possibly see shadows and hear loud noises close to her. She isn't a dog that barks a lot but she will bark when she wants attention, potty, or food. She likes to make friends. She likes other dogs, cats, and kids. She would do best in a home that is quieter and will allow her to enjoy the rest of her years without a lot going on around her.  Can you provide her a furever home? The suggested adoption donation for Eloise is $250. In 2021 alone, we were able to provide animal Healthcare costing over $306,000 covered mainly through adoption fees. If this pet is not spayed or neutered at the time of adoption due to limited vetting availability, a voucher will be given to the adopter to take the pet to be altered at NHS free of charge. Alterations are REQUIRED for all Muddy Paws adoptions. The contract states the alter must be done within ONE month of the adoption date or the adopter will be in breach of contract. Adopters are required to provide proof of alter to Muddy Paws Rescue immediately after the procedure is complete. Thank you in advance for your compliance. Information about the adoption process: All adoptions require a completed ADOPTION APPLICATION. Once your application is approved, we will put you in touch with the animal’s foster to see if you and the pet are a good match. If so, we will arrange a meeting for you and the animal. Story
Chip (b 7/2021) a Chihuahua. Chip is a laid-back guy that is looking for a place to exercise and have a consistent schedule.  Chip loves other dogs and would do great in a home with another fur sibling.  He is house trained but does mark but we are working on it. His nickname with his foster due to his "little dog syndrome" (he thinks he is the biggest, baddest boy on the block) is El Chapo. He takes a little bit to warm up to people but once he does, he will be on your lap, giving you kisses.  He is very curious and very goofy. The suggested adoption donation for Chip is $300, which includes a lifetime of free relationship-based training for any behavioral problems (not obedience training). Muddy Paws is a 501c3 non-profit organization meaning that part of your donation MAY be TAX DEDUCTIBLE. We are a 100% volunteer rescue committed to giving animals a second chance at life. All donations go toward that mission. Adoption fees are the primary source of funding for the cost of veterinary care for our animals.  In 2022 alone, we provided animal Healthcare totaling over $300,000 covered mainly through adoption fees. Information about the adoption process: All adoptions require a completed ADOPTION APPLICATION. Once your application has completed our prescreen steps, we will put you in touch with the animal’s foster to see if you and the pet are a good match. If so, we will arrange a meeting for you and the animal. The adoptions for all of our animals will take place in the Omaha, NE area and must be done by the adoptive family in person. We do not ship or deliver.  Alter Agreement:  If the dog or cat you adopt is older than 6 months of age and not spayed or neutered, you will receive a voucher to alter the pet at Val Verde Animal Hospital in Omaha, at no cost to you.  Or you can alter the pet at your own vet and be reimbursed $80 for dogs, and $50 for cats, of total cost.  If the dog or cat is younger than 6 months of age, adopter will be responsible for the cost of altering the pet at the vet of their choice.  If proof of alter is received by Muddy Paws prior to the pet turning 6 months of age, a reimbursement of $80 for dogs, and $50 for cats, will be sent to you to help cover expenses. All puppies and kittens MUST be spayed or neutered by 6 months of age.  All dogs and cats MUST be spayed or neutered no later than one month after adoption is finalized. Please Note: We are a RESCUE, which is different from a shelter. We conduct veterinary and personal reference checks, and a Home Visit (Virtual in some cases)  during the application approval process. We always select the right applicant for each animal, based on the animal’s needs. If you and the animal are not a good match, we will help you select another animal, or we will keep your approved application on file for 6 months.  To learn about Muddy Paws Second Chance Rescue or donate to our animals, please visit our website at MuddyPawsSecondChanceRescue.com or our Facebook Page Muddy Paws Second Chance Rescue Inc. ##1771862##
