Story
10lb Rio is an adorable intelligent 'mini-fox'! Age 3-5 yrs. Loves: keeping you company indoors & out, sharing a couch, soft toys. Generally calm/polite with gentle humans! If overstimulated will jump & mouth. Barks loudly to alert. Rio's sweet & gentle when he feels safe and calm. Loves long walks daily. Easy to walk, doesn't pull. Recovering from tough past, Rio has come so far! Full story unknown: stray & hungry last year; adopted but sadly relinquished due to barking complaints; adopted again as companion for another chi mix but can't tolerate him. Rio & our quiet F dog enjoy each other (pic), but he's reactive to most dogs. Resumed meds for 'shelter stress'. Up-to-date medical. Housetrained 4h days/8h nights (as all toy dogs, needs regular pee breaks or pad) Ideal home: As only pet or with a loving mom-dog Companion human(s)! No kids- can nip if startled Quiet setting- no scary noises, no neighbors to disturb with barking Fenced yard/always on leash

Adoptable in: MA, RI, NH, CT, and VTGood with dogs: YesGood with cats: Yes, dog-savvy catsGood with kids: NoCrate trained: NoHouse trained: Yes (with pee pads)Sui is a very special little lady with an enormous heart and a wonderful personality!Sui thrives being around other pups (the more the merrier) and gains confidence with people through observing other dogs and their human interactions. She is looking for a loving, calm, and consistent home with a confident, nurturing doggie sibling who can help her feel safe and secure. When she is nervous, she takes comfort by snuggling up to other dogs in the home.It may take Sui some time to trust new people, especially men, but once she warms up, she is a sweet, spunky, lovable pup! She loves to stick with her pack and gets along well with other dogs of all sizes. For a small dog she easily keeps up with the bigger pups in her foster home. She is also comfortable around cats and has been smitten with a neighbor’s Maine Coon cat. She absolutely loves running with other dogs in a fenced-in area. For a little pup, she is incredibly fast!Sui has good leash manners when using a transitional lead. She enjoys walks around the neighborhood and in the woods, but the beach is her favorite place by far. She has even been known to frequent local breweries to listen to live music! She has started to approach people on her own to say hello as she gets more and more at ease with being in new situations. Sui knows she is pretty and loves to dress up in all her cute outfits, but she is a smart girl too and knows ‘sit’, ‘laydown’, and ‘dance’ for treats. She also has amazing recall and loves sprinting back to her humans when her name is called! She, like most dogs, loves her Lamb Chop toy and will carry it around the house. Sui is uncomfortable around kids, so an adult-only home would be best. Sui has separation anxiety, so she is looking for a home where her humans are around a lot or where there is another dog she can depend on. She is not crate trained, but she can be trusted home alone with another dog, especially if they are gated into a specific area.Sui is a flight risk, so caution will need to be used when walking outdoors or opening doors in the home. Sui is working on house training and does great if taken out on a regular schedule.More than anything in the world, Sui wants to be part of a loving pack that can help her build up her confidence and give her lots of snuggles. While this sweet girl may need a little extra TLC, she is absolutely worth it!Please Note: All dogs are posted until they are officially adopted. This dog may have other interested adopters in line.
