Story
You don’t see many Chinese Crested dogs in rescue, so when a little guy like Kai and his two possible siblings, Winston and Tucker (all up for adoption) come our way, we know how popular they will be - suggestion: if you love this breed, don't hesitate to apply ASAP.These 3 were living in the backyard of a "breeder" in rural Tennessee who could not sell them so she turned them over to a rescue. They apparently have lived their entire life outside. Although these puppies were dumped by a crested breeder, we don't have AKC papers (of course) and cannot guarantee they are 100% purebred, but they are all adorable puppies.Thankfully, they are adjusting beautifully to the good life. They are currently living with other dogs in their foster home and doing well. These pups haven't been child-tested, so we’re looking for a home where any children are gentle and understand these are small dogs, not toys.Kai is very active. REALLY long legs-runs like a mini Greyhound. Almost never walks, just runs everywhere. Big personality. Loves to play chase with Tucker. and is jumpy on his older larger foster siblings. Great appetite- Is gradually warming up but still does not like to be held for long; wants to get down and run!Like all puppies, his new family should be ready for the fun—and work—that comes with raising a young dog. They'll need continued house training, crate training, leash work, basic manners, socialization, and plenty of patience as they grow into the great little dog we know he can be.If you’ve always wanted a Chinese Crested, you may be in luck. All known information about the animal is listed above. They are currently living with other dogs in their foster home and doing well. These pups haven't been child-tested, so we’re looking for a home where any children are gentle and understand these are small dogs, not toys.Winston arrived at his foster home quite frightened and withdrawn, but with patience, understanding, and plenty of space, he is slowly beginning to make progress. His crate is his safe haven, where he feels most secure. While he initially trembled when approached, he now allows his foster to gently pet him while resting in his crate without shaking. He prefers to enjoy his meals privately in his crate. Although he isn't comfortable being picked up, he does allow it when necessary. He seems to enjoy the company of other dogs, and a home with a sweet, gentle small dog might help him feel more comfortable and confident. Winston will need a special adopter with a gentle heart and a willingness to let him build trust at his own pace as he blossoms into a wonderful companion.Like all puppies, his new family should be ready for the fun—and work—that comes with raising a young dog. Story
Meet Oliver (Ollie) our sweet 15 year old minimature poodle/chinese crested mix who is looking for a loving home where he can spend his golden years getting all the attention and companionship he deserves.Ollie has been our beloved family dog for over 10 years. He is incredibly sweet, cuddly, affectionate, and loves being close to people. He definetely has a stubborn side and knows what he wants (sometimes won't take a walk, will lay on the floor), but that is just what makes Ollie, Ollie. At 15 years old, Ollie does have some special needs. He is blind and has high blood pressure, which is managed with two medications a day. He also is quite stubborn so does have incontenence issues (he wears a diaper to pee) and does sometimes have number 2 accidents in the house. Despite his age and some medical needs, he is doing well and is a happy older guy who just needs a little more care, patience, and supervision we are unable to give with full time in person work and older parents.
