Ginger is a five year old nine lb female chihuahua. Her owner died and the family surrendered her to a shelter. Ginger wags like crazy but still may not want you to touch her or pick her up. She takes a little time to warm up to a stranger after being in the same place for five years. She tested heartworm positive and has completed heartworm treatment. Peanut is a three year old 5-7 lb long haired chihuahua or pomeranian mix. He is the sweetest little guy! Peanut and several others were surrendered from a home who had too many dogs to the Marion animal shelter. Lucifer and Lucy are the other two of this group that our rescue took. All three are heartworm negative. Peanut had the worst coat and has a lot of gaps in hair growth, some may have been shaved or cut when he was neutered. We feel with proper flea protection, good food and some medicated baths he will bounce back. He has a great little personality and asks to get in the big bed with his foster mom. Hazel is a 5-7 year-old 11 pound chihuahua / Yorkie terrier mix. She is a little shy when she meets a new person, however, once she warms up to you she loves you with her whole heart. She is a faithful, fun-loving companion who loves to play with toys and snuggle in your lap (or by your side) Hazel is house-trained and plays well with the other 2 dogs in her foster home. She enjoys walks and does well on a leash. She loves to sleep in the bed with her people, but is also quite cozy in her little round bed. Hazel would do well in a home as an only pet or with other dogs. She joined our rescue after being abandoned at a vacant house on a chain - however since then she has been treated for heartworms, has been spayed, and is up to date on all her vaccinations. She is thriving in her foster home and is ready to find a fur-ever family of her own.
