Meet Gabriella! Gabriella may be a senior, but please don’t tell her that—shes convinced shes still a puppy! Gabriella was very loved by her previous owner, and giving her up was an incredibly difficult decision. Gabriella adored her mom and wanted to be by her side all the time. She would get so excited that she would jump up to greet her and shower her with affection. Unfortunately, her owner was older and unsteady on her feet, and she became worried that Gabriellas enthusiasm might accidentally knock her down and cause them both to be injured. As heartbreaking as it was, she knew Gabriella needed a home with someone who could safely keep up with her playful, energetic spirit. When Gabriella came to us, we discovered she had a very large mammary tumor. Her previous owner simply didnt have the financial means to provide the surgery she needed. After talking with our veterinarian, we knew Gabriella still had plenty of life, love, and happiness ahead of her, so we made sure she received the care she deserved. Gabriellas surgery was a success, and she has done fantastic! She is back to being her happy, playful, joyful self—running, jumping, playing, and enjoying life just like the puppy she believes she is. Now theres only one thing missing: a family of her very own. Gabriella is looking for someone who sees beyond the word senior and recognizes the fun-loving girl she truly is. She needs a family who can keep up with her youthful spirit, give her plenty of love and attention, and let her spend her golden years enjoying every minute of life. Te quiero SNIPSA! Te quiero nine Chihuahuas! Okay, eight Chihuahuas, and one very friendly imposter. But we could easily gobble each one of them up with some queso fresco. Meet Tomatillo, Pastor, Pico, Carnitas, Fideo, Migas, Chilequiles, Asada and Enchilada. This adorable variety pack took a freedom ride to SNIPSA on September 3rd, stacked shoulder-to-shoulder in our iconic van. Prior to their rescue, they were all living together under one roof in unfortunate circumstances. Sadly, each pup was suffering from a myriad of issues: fleas and ticks, overgrown toenails, upper respiratory infections, and lack of socialization. Now, they have received some much-needed veterinary care, and they are ready to embrace a brighter reality in foster homes! This squad is learning to live a normal life, one day at a time. They’re looking forward to long snoozes on cushy couches, slow but thorough inspections of giant backyards, and plenty of love from the people in their lives. They’re very sweet despite their rocky past, and they are eager to trust. Chihuahuas make great pets because they have huge personalities. Their tiny bodies are full of energy, bossiness, affection, and occasionally–spite! They will snuggle up on your lap or curse your enemies with equal amounts of enthusiasm. We first spotted him at Animal Care Services, where his intake photo featured a look so comically skeptical we knew we had to bring him into our program. Naturally, the “J” in his name originally stood for “Judgy,” and he wore the title with pride! But don't let those initial side-eyes fool you. Mr. Jay has officially traded his skepticism for snuggles and his corporate desk for a cozy couch. Now that he is settled into foster care, he has proven that underneath that hilariously stern exterior lies a total sweetie with a larger-than-life personality. His foster has reported that he is a “very good little guy who loves being outside. He is a cuddler and a great napping buddy! You can tell that he is smart. He is quick to protect his people and loves to play with his toys. He doesn’t chew shoes or chords, but a Nylabone doesn’t stand a chance.” Mr. Jay is playful with other dogs after a proper introduction, but he can be selective with cats. He stands ten bean-toes down and isn’t afraid to set a boundary, but he is a true friend once he is well-acquainted. For such a small dog, his personality fills the room. He will never let you forget he is there, and will happily claim your foot by sitting on it if you aren’t paying attention.
