Story
Hello! My name is Oso, which means “bear” in Spanish—but don’t let the name fool you! I’m a gentle giant with a heart full of love. I was saved just three hours before my time was up at the county shelter, and even though I’m a senior, I have so much life and love left to give! I’m all about people—I love them, like really, really love them. After spending my whole life outdoors, I’m absolutely thrilled by the comfort of indoor air conditioning and a doggy door that lets me wander into the yard whenever I want. Life is good! One of my favorite things is carrying around my stuffed toys, especially the small ones—they make me so happy! I also love chasing a ball and am the best boy when it’s time for a bath. Treats are my weakness, especially chicken tacos (yum!). I’m looking for a home where I can be the only dog because I just want to soak up all the love for myself. I’m easygoing, never bark, and my tail wiggles with joy when I meet new friends. I’m dreaming of a forever home where I can give lots of kisses, enjoy scratchies, and just be your loyal companion for the rest of my days. If you can offer me a place to call home, please reach out to my foster mom, Jenn, at 602-710-4143. I can’t wait to meet you! ❤️ I’m a courtesy post for Valley Dogs Rescue.

Story
Meet Vanilla Bean! 🤍Vanilla Bean is a 4-year-old, 44-pound Chow Chow mix who recently joined us and is ready to find her forever home. This gentle girl has already shown us what a lovely companion she can be. Vanilla Bean is friendly with everyone she meets and has been comfortable making new friends. She has also done well during her introductions to other dogs.Vanilla Bean sits quietly while getting ready for a walk and makes leash time a breeze. She’s easy to leash up, walks at a comfortable pace, and doesn’t pull. She also knows “sit” and has wonderful manners at doors, patiently waiting when asked instead of rushing through. While toys haven’t caught her interest so far, Vanilla Bean is a pro when it comes to enrichment! She mastered the snuffle mat and enjoys putting her nose to work. She’s also able to settle nicely after some activity and is content to relax and enjoy being nearby.Vanilla Bean’s coat is currently trimmed short, but as it grows out, she’ll have a longer, fuller coat that will require regular grooming to keep her looking and feeling her best.Vanilla Bean is also being monitored for entropion, a condition in which the eyelid turns inward and can cause the eyelashes to rub against the eye. She may need corrective surgery. If that surgery is determined to be necessary within the next six months, Friends for Life will cover the procedure. With her gentle demeanor, friendly personality, nice leash manners, and ability to settle, Vanilla Bean has so much to offer. She’s ready for a home that will give her the care, companionship, and love she deserves.Could Vanilla Bean be your new animal family member? 🤍To get started in the process of meeting Vanilla Bean, please visit https://azfriends.org/testing/adopt.html to complete an adoption consultation form, and then come by the Adoption Center to meet with one of our adoption counselors. No appointments are necessary and you can come and see us any time we are open. Please go to our website (www.azfriends.org) to fill out a consultation form then come and see us! We do require any family interested in meeting our dogs or cats to fill out a consultation form – this form helps us determine if the dog/cat and the home are a good match, since it is so easy to fall in love with a photo, without knowing the personality of the animal. Once you have filled out the online Adoption Consultation Form, just come in and see us (or come and see us and fill out the consultation form upon arrival)! Please note that ALL dogs and cats are available to the first home that meets the dog or cat that we feel is a good match. In the event there is more than one home interested in the same animal, a lottery may be held that will include all families that are at our adoption center at the time we open the day the animal becomes available. In order to help make the best match, we do want all family members (dogs and humans) to meet any potential new family member. Our adoption center hours are: Closed Sunday/Monday; Tuesday 10a-2p, Wednesday 3p-7p, Thursday 3p-7p, Friday 10a-2p, Saturday 10a-4p. We are located at 952 W Melody Avenue in Gilbert (zip code 85233).All animals are altered, vaccinated, microchipped, dewormed, licensed (dogs). Cats tested for FELV/FIV. Dogs tested for Heartworm. All animals are available to the first family that is a good match, and if we have more than one animal who is a good match, there will be a lottery for all matches. Note that families must have come in to our adoption center and spoken with an adoption counselor prior to any lottery (when we have lotteries, they usually occur on Saturday mornings).
