Story
You may recognize Dunphy as a television celebrity. Dunphy is a 1-1/2 to 2 year old handsome, friendly, intelligent Akita blend who arrived to us as a stray. Upon rescue back in October 2023, we quickly realized he had double hip dysplasia. He has successfully had one hip repaired and rehabilitated and is recovering from surgery on his second hip. Dunphy was the beneficiary of our January Yard Sale, and Holly Bock with 3TV attended the event and spent four hours showcasing Dunphy, while he was still recovering from the first surgery. He's a wonderful guy and would love to find a forever home soon! Dunphy is residing with one of our amazing foster homes and will be available to meet from 10am-4pm on Saturdays, at the adoption center. You may also schedule a weekday meeting, by emailing Debbie@AzFriends.orgNo appointments are necessary and you can come and see us any time we are open. Please go to our website (www.azfriends.org) to fill out a consultation form then come and see us! We do require any family interested in meeting our dogs or cats to fill out a consultation form – this form helps us determine if the dog/cat and the home are a good match, since it is so easy to fall in love with a photo, without knowing the personality of the dog. Once you have filled out the online Adoption Consultation Form, just come in and see us (or come and see us and fill out the consultation form upon arrival)! Please note that ALL dogs and cats are available to the first home that meets the dog or cat that we feel is a good match. In order to help make the best match, we do want all family members (dogs and humans) to meet any potential new family member. Our adoption center hours are: Closed Sunday/Monday; Tuesday 10a-2p, Wednesday 3p-7p, Thursday 3p-7p, Friday 10a-2p, Saturday 10a-4p. We are located at 952 W Melody Avenue in Gilbert (zip code 85233).All animals are altered, vaccinated, microchipped, dewormed, licensed (dogs). Cats tested for FELV/FIV. Dogs tested for Heartworm. All animals are available to the first family that is a good match, and if we have more than one animal who is a good match, there will be a lottery for all matches. Note that families must have come in to our adoption center and spoken with an adoption counselor prior to any lottery (when we have lotteries, they usually occur on Saturday mornings).

Story
I first met Roku in Dallas, Texas. He is a pure breed of Japanese Akita Inu. He was only three-month-old and just a little tiny pup. His birthday is Aug. 22, 2022. He is shy and sensitive but always super sweet and kind to me. Now he is about nine months old, and he never barked at me even once, never ran away once when I recall him. But when he is with me, when he's growing up now, I finally realize that maybe i am not the best owner for him, he deserves a better home and a happy doggy life with someone who can really spend a lot of time with him. There are some changes happening in my life and I will travel more frequently in the near future. It's really hard to make the decision but I hope the best for him and that he can be truly happy. The adoption fee there is setting a bar for selecting people who is financially stable and is serious about giving him a new home. But it's always negotiable, just reach out to me if you are an experienced dog owner. Thanks.

Duke is a happy, loving boy who only want love, snuggles and play time. He is wonderful with children, but he has not had many interactions with other animals, so that is an unknown. Duke is a young, high-energy boy. He needs an active person to give him lots of walks, runs and play time. He is house trained, crate trained, uses a doggy door and walks good on a leash.  Duke has been around other dogs, but would do best as only dog or with dog savvy parents with experience to make sure the right match.  Duke is looking for a new home at no fault of his own. His current is unable to meet his needs and energy level. Are you looking for a big, busy lovebug? Meet Duke today! Story
I was at a shelter and Bryce was scheduled to be euthanized that night. He is such a sweet dog and perhaps impulsively, I adopted him with the hope that I could find a home for him. Bryce is 7 years old. He is very calm, sweet and friendly and loves attention. I have had Bryce for a few months, and it really hurts to let him go, but I have 4 other dogs and it is too much for me to keep Bryce as well. Please help as Bryce is a good dog and deserves a good home.

Story
Introducing Jack Frost, the spirited Husky mix bursting with energy and affection! At 2 years old, Frost is a bundle of joy who thrives on love and attention. 🐾 He's a social butterfly, getting along with other large dogs. However, Frost would benefit from ongoing training to unleash his full potential and make him the confident and secure pup he deserves! 🎓 Jack Frost is an outdoor enthusiast who adores car rides and would make an ideal running or hiking companion. 🏞️ Regular walks or runs are his idea of heaven! He's a powerhouse when it comes to playtime, he needs a home with ample space to run and play freely. Highly intelligent and quick to learn, Jack Frost relishes mentally stimulating activities and treats. 🧠🎾 🌳💨 While he's a strong boy, he requires supervision around children and prefers a harness for walks, steering clear of tight collars. 🚷 Jack Frost's playful nature sometimes leads to overexcitement and "playful nips," requiring firm guidance from an alpha human to channel his competitive spirit positively. 🏅 Although he's great with larger dogs and older children, Frost may need some patience and training around smaller animals. 🐇 If you're seeking an energetic and loyal companion who's ready for adventure, Jack Frost could be your perfect match! ❄️🐾 ***Please reach out to Paula at spwheels1@gmail.com if you'd like to meet this special boy Jack Frost!

Story
Meet the strikingly gorgeous Christina Waguilera, a 30-pound, one-year-old Husky who came to us as a stray. This affectionate and lively pup loves playing with squeaky toys and having energetic zoomies around the place! She has mastered basic commands like "sit," and is very treat-motivated and eager to please. She is house trained and knows how to use a dog door. While Christina enjoys interacting with other dogs, she prefers to have her food in peace, so she would thrive as the only canine companion in a home. She would love to have playdates with furry pals. Christina is residing with one of our amazing foster homes and will be at the adoption center on Saturdays from 10-4pm, or you may email Debbie@AzFriends.org to schedule a weekday meeting. No appointments are necessary and you can come and see us any time we are open. Story
Aspyn is a Husky-German Sheppard mix and is 2 years old. We bought her from a family when she was 9 weeks old. She has a great temperament, calm and eager for attention. She knows most basic obedience like sit, shake, stay, lay down, spin, and leave it. However, she cannot be off leash yet. She is not yet spayed as we were considering having puppies. We can spay her if needed. We are looking for a better fit home. It would be optimal for her to be in a cooler environment due to her breed. Thanks for considering.
