Story
Meet Dixon - Your Loyal Adventure Buddy! Dixon is a handsome Akita mix with a big heart and an even bigger personality. True to his breed, he's thoughtful and observant, but since joining foster care, Dixon has revealed a softer, affectionate side-he loves being near his person and settles beautifully in the evenings. What Dixon Loves: Walks & Exploration: Dixon is a confident walker who enjoys brisk strolls and sniffing out new scents. He's non-reactive to other dogs on walks and checks in often with eye contact. Playtime: He has bursts of puppy-like energy and loves toys, tug games, and enrichment activities. He thrives on novelty and enjoys rotating toys to keep things fun. Connection: Dixon is independent-minded but deeply loyal. He'll happily curl up nearby and loves praise and interaction. Personality & Home Life: Dixon is spirited, curious, and smart. He's learning recall, "leave," and "stay," and responds best to calm guidance and positive reinforcement. He's been calm when left alone for several hours and does well with structure and routine. Ideal Home: Dixon will do best with an active, patient adopter who enjoys play, enrichment, and positive training. He prefers to be the only dog and needs a secure yard. Adult homes or families with teens 13+ are ideal. Other Notes: -Non-reactive to dogs on walks, but prefers space and proper introductions. -May bark at sudden noises or strangers appearing unexpectedly—he likes time to assess. -Eats well overall; meds require a little creativity. -Strong, healthy, and ready for adventure! If you’re looking for a loyal companion who’s playful, affectionate, and full of personality, Dixon is your guy.
