Story
Caspian is the charming prince who will sweep you off your feet! Caspian is a gentle soul and is estimated to be around 10 years old. He is a boy who proves that age is just a number, and is a moderate- energy pup who loves his daily walks, and even makes a great jogging partner! He is a big teddy bear come to love and loves making new friends. Everyone he meets falls in love with his easygoing and affectionate personality. Caspian weighs about 45lbs, but may benefit from gaining a little weight. Caspian was found as a stray and brought to an animal shelter in Central CA. Due to chronic overcrowding, he found himself on the euthanasia list at no fault of his own. We fell in love with him before we even met him and are so grateful that a foster family stepped up to help save him. After some much-needed grooming, he is looking fresh and ready to find his fur-ever family. Caspian is the epitome of a good boy. He is the perfect mix of adventurous and calm and would make a great companion for someone who wants a dog who can hang out during the day and then venture around town in the evening. He is a curious and happy pup who is eager to meet new people and is quick to charm everyone with his amazing demeanor. He loves his cuddles on the couch, but is also content to keep to himself while you're busy. He has great manners and already seems to know some things, like "sit". He is very food-motivated and seems like the type of dog who will happily contradict the saying "you can't teach old dogs new tricks". Caspian has been doing well as the only dog in his foster home, but was very respectful of other dogs he met while at the shelter, so he may do well living with other mellow dogs. We haven't seen Caspian around cats, but he may do well with confident, dog-savvy cats after a slow introduction. Caspian could make a wonderful addition to a family with kids 10 years and older. Caspian is housetrained. He has done well being home alone with a kong and music to keep him company. He has done well living in an apartment with daily exercise and is a fairly quiet dog. Due to his thick double coat, he does require frequent brushing to prevent any matting. He took a trip to a local groomer and was a good boy who did great for his appointment. Caspian is such a wonderful dog, and he is going to bring so much joy to his new family. If you think that might be you, submit an application today!   Caspian's adoption fee is $300.   Apply to adopt here!  https://form.jotform.com/52017002013129/   Applications are also available on the website (www.yolospca.org)  It can take up to 3-5 business days to hear back once you have submitted an application. The Yolo County SPCA is a private, not-for-profit, foster home-based animal rescue organization and does not have a shelter. All our animals awaiting adoption are in foster homes. Our adoption fees help us cover the cost of spay/neuter surgery, microchip and registration, and rabies vaccination (if over 4 months of age at intake or spay/neuter) for all animals. Dogs are tested for heartworm, started on preventatives, and given a DAPP vaccination. Adult dogs are up to date on their vaccinations prior to adoption. Puppies will be current on the vaccinations appropriate to their age. The adopter is responsible for additional vaccinations as necessary after the adoption. For more information about an animal, please email dogs@yolospca.org. Story
Mister Biggs is the most loyal, loving, and snuggly boy ever. He is great for someone who jogs. I will miss him so much. He was a foster returned by 2 people because he was a lot of energy and too little training. So I did the leash training, treat training, and working with the big Mister to make sure he was housebroken and less reactive. He is an absolute love, with bone and ball affinity, crate and housetrained. He LOVES people. He is good with most other animals as long as he is introduced in a controlled manner. He must be pack-walked before able to openly interact with other dogs above 15 lbs. He must be lovingly introduced to cats but easily understands they are his housemates and siblings. Biggs also has digestive and skin sensitivities. He takes 4-16mg of prescription Apoquel daily as needed, and I add Zyrtec 10mg seasonally. He eats ONLY prescription kibble and treats, Science diet Derm Complete. I learned this the hard way. Call/msg for more info.
