🌟 **Meet Mystery: The Rescued Akita Mix with a Heart of Gold! 🐾** I'm thrilled to introduce you to Mystery, a beautiful 5-year-old Akita mix that I recently rescued from the local animal shelter. From the moment I met her, I knew she was something special! Mystery is the epitome of love and affection. She adores being around people and will melt your heart with her gentle nature. Long walks are her absolute favorite, and she's always up for an occasional game of fetch. While Mystery has some basic training, she's eager to learn more and is incredibly smart. She might be a tad stubborn at times, but her easy-going nature makes her a joy to be around. If you're looking for a loyal companion who will shower you with love and bring endless joy to your life, Mystery might just be the perfect fit for you! Let's give this sweet girl the forever home she deserves. Reach out to me if you're interested in making Mystery a part of your family!

Story
I'm introducing myself to you as a very independent, a little shy, and intelligent dog. My name is XL Duck. And I didn't grow up socializing with people a lot. So it takes me some time to get used to new human beings. But once I know you, you are my best friend. I love running, and running, and running. I met quite a few dogs at the shelter, and they all became my friends therefore I'd love the company of another dog in my new home! When I was in a foster home, I was quiet and non-destructive, but preferred the company of other dogs. I've made a lot of human friends at the shelter, and I love to play with them and get scratches.  Interested in adopting? Story
Meet HIROMI HIROMI was turned into the shelter as a found dog. No one ever came for her. Despite being failed by her former person, this sweetheart remains devoted and loving. After Hiromi’s arrival she was initially timid and lacked confidence. She can still be somewhat apprehensive but she has opened up and trusted us enough to let her true colors shine! She is silly, sensitive, refreshingly affectionate, playful and a free spirit. Her absolute favorite past time is to be showered with love and give it in return. Her gentle, resilient nature is inspiring but not surprising. Hiromi is very communicative by expressing a multitude of emotions with her eyes. Her body language is inviting and she understands how to use it to subtly let you know what’s on her mind. She is also an Akita so stubbornness is part of her DNA! Her ideal adopter should have a calm home environment and be able to provide consistency and a daily routine, where she can continue to expand her horizons. Hiromi gets excited for her daily walks and is a great traveler! She seems non-reactive to other dogs and might do well with a mellow male dog. She is approx 4 yrs old and weighs 57 lbs. She is also crate and house trained. She is ready to pledge her love and devotion! Are you?! If you are interested in adopting, please complete our adoption application found on our website here: https://www.namasteakitarescue.com/how-do-i-adopt There you will find helpful information about the adoption process, FAQ's, etc **PLEASE NOTE, we must first approve an application before a meeting can be arranged between a prospective adopter and our dogs. Story
What kind of person drops off their beloved family member at a boarding facility, says they’ll be back in two days and is never seen or heard from again? After multiple attempts, the staff finally reached the owners. Their response was they were not coming back for him. Imagine you are Ponyo, waiting day after day, and one day becomes two, then two days becomes a week and then a month. At what point do dogs give up hope? Akitas are known for their fierce loyalty and devotion. Sadly, in this instance his loyalty was rewarded with betrayal. Thankfully, Ponyo is resilient and his joy of freedom overshadowed his despair. He’s 4yrs old and is a happy, fun-loving boy. He is best as an only dog and requires an experienced Akita owner. Ponyo is settling in and is getting plenty of attention, interaction and enrichment. Interested in adopting? Story
This boy is 4 years old. I’ve had him since he was 6 months and he is literally my soul dog. It breaks my heart to rehome him but I don’t feel like I give him the life he deserves and I can’t keep him here much longer. He loves dogs and is amazing with kids, even my infant nephew. He loves basketballs and baseballs and anything with ball in the name. He is so sweet and smart but he doesn’t like when you lay on him-he WILL lay on you though. He should belong to someone active and willing to keep up on his training! He knows sit, stay, wait, gentle, lay down, get off, move, and back up, mostly basic commands but he is smart and food motivated you could definitely teach him anything.

To apply or see more of Oki, go to: https://www.heartsforpawsrescue.com/219873/2023/4/8/oki-lglbf Hey pals! I'm Oki, the happy-go-lucky beaut if I do say so myself. Life's a grand adventure, and I'm here to soak up every bit of joy it has to offer! Picture this: I'm an exceptionally friendly explorer who's always up for a game with my doggy foster sisters. Long walks? Count me in! But when the sun sets, there's nothing better than curling up on top of my humans, channeling my inner giant cat. Speaking of cats … let's keep it cat-free in my kingdom—that's my only request. Meeting new people is like hitting the jackpot for me—I'm incredibly social, and I've been told I have a way of making everyone feel like an instant friend. Kids? Oh, they're fantastic! I've met a few, and I sit there patiently, soaking up all the pets and even tolerating hugs like a pro. Now, let's talk treats. While I do find treats and human food interesting, I usually give them a polite sniff and turn away. Well, there's one exception—the magical MilkBones. Those, my friends, are a different story. An active home? Sign me up! I'll thrive in the hustle and bustle of a lively household, and having other doggy pals around would be just fine. Oh, did I mention I'm housetrained? No separation anxiety here. I'm just a husky ready for my forever home. Could it be yours? Let's embark on this adventure together—I promise it'll be a tail-wagging good time! 🐾 Oki is being fostered in SOUTH LAKE TAHOE. Estimated DOB: 12/1/2020 Oki's Adoption Donation is SPONSORED! Includes neuter/addendum; rabies, dhpp, bordatella, microchip, and up to date on monthly preventatives. Interested in adopting? 1. Please complete our online form at heartsforpawsrescue.com/adoption-application 2. We will respond in 1-3 days for a call! 3. If it sounds like a potential match for you and the dog of interest, we will promptly set up a meet and greet at the foster home Please note we are a foster-based rescue meaning our dogs are in individual foster homes throughout sac and the bay. For this reason we may only be able to schedule meets for one dog at a time (or litter). The average timeline between app submission and a meet and greet is 3-5 days. Please only submit an application for a specific dog if you are ready to adopt that animal within a week's time. Follow facebook.com/heartsforpawsrescue & Instagram @heartsforpawsrescue for more!
