We believe this may be the reason she has had some anxiety issues over the years. She sometimes barks loudly in response to doorbells, fireworks or other loud booms, and barking from other dogs. However, her barking has improved as she has aged. Having Spring was much more manageable before our son entered the toddler phase. Unfortunately, he has been aggressive (verbally and physically) with her on many occasions. We have tried to teach our son how to treat Spring better but not much has improved. At this point, we are keeping Spring in the guest room or office as much as possible so she stays safe. We do not feel like we are providing the best life for her. Sadly, she seems to be in a constant state of fear and anxiety. We honestly think Spring would fully thrive in a home with plenty of open space and other animals, but we also think she would do perfectly fine being someone’s lap dog. However, she should not be placed in a home with young children or children with behaviors.Spring is in good health, not on any medications (including preventative) and up-to-date on vaccinations. Spring has always gotten along well with our cats. She does well with other dogs when we are not around (at pet boarding, for example), but becomes protective of us when we are around (on a walk, for example). She is a bit shy around children but is generally good with them too. The big exception is our three-year-old son, who is very active and physical. For that reason, it probably would be best if she was placed with a family that has older children (10 and up). Spring is potty-trained and crate-trained. We tried some obedience training early on but didn’t commit to it as much as we would have liked to. She can come and stay on command and occasionally sit on command. Spring loves to play, run and go on walks and even hikes, but she also enjoys sitting on our laps and can be calm for long periods of time. If you are interested in meeting Spring, please contact  Brian Johnson (brianjohnson006789@gmail.com, 559-302-6233) or Megan Johnson (meg.johnson80590@gmail.com, 805-354-3708).  Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.March 7, 2026, 11:34 pm
