Meet Gabriel!
Gabriel is a 3–4 year old dachshund mix with a big personality packed into a little body! After spending the first years of his life chained outside in Mexico, Gabriel is making up for lost time and embracing every moment of his new life in Colorado.
He is incredibly smart, sweet, loving, and FUN. Gabriel is the kind of dog that wants to be wherever his people are—whether that's out on an adventure or curled up beside you on the couch.
Gabriel loves:
- Playing with other dogs
- Snuggling with his people
- Walking, hiking, and running
- Treats (and really, food of any kind!)
- Sunbathing and spending time outdoors
He's also proven himself to be quite the gentleman:
- Great with kids (even busy toddlers!)
- Good in his crate
- Great in the car
- Walks well on leash (though he may pull when he's excited)
- Not a big barker
- Unfazed by rain, loud noises, or lots of activity
Gabriel's foster says he isn't scared of much and settles into new experiences with confidence and curiosity.
Like any dog, Gabriel isn't perfect—and that's okay! Potential adopters should know:
- He can experience separation anxiety with his person.
- He may mark if there are other dogs in the home.
- He's had a couple of potty accidents while settling in.
- He isn't aggressive toward cats, but he is VERY excited about them and will need slow introductions and guidance.
- Gabriel should always be kept on a leash or in a secure yard. He's an adventurous little guy and has taken himself on a couple of neighborhood explorations before happily returning home 15–20 minutes later.
Gabriel has spent enough of his life without the security of a family to call his own. Now, he's looking for a forever home that will give him the love, patience, and consistency he deserves—and one where he'll never have to worry about being tied to a chain again.
