Story
Arthur is a 5-year-old, 78-pound neutered Staffordshire Terrier/Retriever mix with a big personality and an even bigger heart. This handsome boy is the perfect combination of playful adventure buddy and affectionate cuddle companion. He's in a foster home in Houston, TEXAS and able to transport once matched to an adopter. Arthur was found roaming around a park with some other dogs. He was always happy to greet the street feeders. One day he was rounded up with some other dogs and brought to the county shelter. We fell in love with him and thankfully a foster agreed to help him out. Arthur loves life and approaches every day with enthusiasm. He's a moderate energy guy who enjoys playtime, exploring, and spending time with his people. He has successfully interacted with dogs of different sizes, including a 70-pound Black Lab and a 35-40 pound Mini Aussie and a 15 Chihuahua. Arthur enjoys playing and does a good job reading social cues from other dogs, recognizing when a playmate is ready for a break. Arthur has also been around cats and even pot-bellied pigs. He's curious and interested in them but has never shown aggression. As with any dog, proper introductions and supervision are recommended. This sweet boy has spent time around a young child and has done well. He doesn't jump on people, but because of his size and excitement, he could accidentally knock over a small child during play. He would do best with a family that understands his energetic nature and can provide appropriate outlets for his enthusiasm. Arthur is fully house-trained and crate-trained. He settles nicely in his crate and has comfortably stayed crated for for longer periods before needing a potty break. He rides beautifully in the car and absolutely LOVES car rides -mention the words "car ride" and you'll have his full attention! Personality-wise, Arthur is outgoing, playful, curious, affectionate, and incredibly sweet. He enjoys toys, loves spending time with his people, and is always happy to soak up attention and affection. He thinks if he can fit, he can sit! Arthur may pull at first out on a walk, but settles into the routine and does well. Arthur's ideal home is one that can provide regular exercise, structure, and plenty of opportunities to be part of the family. He doesn't need another dog in the home to be happy, but he would thrive with people who enjoy including their dog in everyday adventures. If you're looking for a loyal, loving companion who is equally happy going on an adventure or curling up beside you at the end of the day, Arthur may be the perfect addition to your family. Please note our process starts with an application. If we think you might be a good fit, we will reach out to coordinate a phone interview. This is followed by a video call with the foster home. Virtual home visit, personal and vet reference checks are required to complete the process. Transport is included in our adoption donation. ***Listed BREED and AGE - We are taking our best guess & recommendations from our veterinarian on age, breed and size when fully grown. We rarely know a dog's exact age nor are we able to tell the true or full breed mix of dogs as our information is limited most of the time. *** Interested in applying to adopt him? Story
Sentry, 9 months(estimated DOB Jan 2026), neutered male, Retriever/Pitbull mix, currently weighs 55 pounds, estimated to be a large size when full grown. He is in a foster home in Houston, TEXAS and able to transport once matched to an adopter. A picture of mom for reference is also included in the profile pictures- she is 55 pounds. This family was rescued from the woods in a rural and well known dumping area outside of Houston. Wanda, mom, had her litter of puppies during a cold freeze that came through Texas at that time. A networker discovered her and her 2 day old puppies. We were able to move mom and 6 puppies to safety in a foster home. Sentry is starting to navigate the world around him. He has his siblings and mom to play with. Sentry is the most confident of the males along with his sister Dagger. He is outgoing, friendly and playful. He is always first in line for pets. Sentry is not fully house broken or crate trained. He has typical puppy energy. He has not interacted with cats, but has been around children. Puppyhood is a crucial developmental period. It’s when they learn house manners, crate comfort, appropriate chewing habits, and how to navigate the world with confidence. Leash work doesn’t happen overnight — it takes daily practice, positive reinforcement, and lots of encouragement to help a puppy learn not to pull, zig-zag, or get distracted by every leaf that blows by. The time invested early makes all the difference later. One of the biggest areas of focus at this age is socialization. Safe, positive exposure to new people, sounds, environments, and other dogs helps shape a stable, confident adult dog. We love seeing our puppies grow up with a well-adjusted canine role model in the home. A resident dog can help teach appropriate play, communication cues, and boundaries in ways humans simply can’t replicate. For that reason, we prefer homes that already have another friendly, well-mannered dog to help mentor and guide this puppy. That said, we understand that not every home has another dog. If you do not currently have a dog, we will want to know your specific plan for socialization once your puppy is old enough and fully vaccinated. This might include structured puppy classes, regular playdates with trusted dogs, supervised daycare, or other intentional, safe opportunities for positive canine interaction. A proactive approach is essential. Because this is such an important stage of development, we also do not adopt puppies of this age into homes where someone is away for more than four hours at a time during the day. Puppies need frequent potty breaks, structured training sessions, enrichment, and human interaction to build healthy habits and prevent anxiety or behavioral challenges. This early investment sets them up for lifelong success. Raising a puppy takes time, flexibility, and dedication — but the reward is an incredible lifelong companion who trusts you, looks to you for guidance, and grows into a confident, well-balanced dog. If you’re ready for the work, the payoff is immeasurable. ***Listed BREED and AGE - We are taking our best guess & recommendations from our veterinarian on age, breed and size when fully grown. Spayed or Neutered,
Story
Peanut, 1.5 years old, neutered male, Chihuahua mix, 20 pounds. He is in a foster home in San Antonio Texas and able to transport once approved. Peanut was rescued along with 80 other dogs from a hoarding situation in Houston. Yes, you read that correctly. 80 dogs living in one person's yard. We were able to help 13 dogs out of this group. Peanut is one of the youngest adults we pulled and it was clear he really needed structure and consistency. He's had some anxiety and we are not too surprised given he's lived his whole life in one place with so many other dogs We think Peanut is somewhere between 1-1.5 years old. He did not know how to walk on a leash and as you can see in the video has really learned to "dog". He has truly flourished in his foster home and has grown and learned so much in the 6 weeks he's been in care with us. He shares a home with one of the dogs where he came from and a larger dog. If you're looking for a fun-loving, adventurous sidekick who's ready to learn what it means to be part of a family, Peanut might just be your perfect match! Peanut is a young, high-energy pup with a playful spirit that's impossible not to love. He lives life like every day is the best day ever, especially if there are toys to chase, dogs to play with, or people to follow around. His favorite game is a spirited round of chase, and if another dog has a toy or bone... well, Peanut may decide it should belong to him! Thankfully, he's very respectful when other dogs set boundaries and is learning great manners from his canine friends. While Peanut is full of confidence during playtime, the rest of the world can still feel a little overwhelming. New people, unfamiliar places, and life on a leash are all things he's continuing to discover. Sometimes he's excited to meet strangers, other times he's a little unsure—but underneath it all is a sweet dog who genuinely wants to trust and connect. His adorable head tilt says it all: he's trying so hard to understand and be the very best boy. Peanut is incredibly smart and eager to learn. He's already working on commands like sit, down, kennel, and settle, and with a consistent routine and positive reinforcement, he'll continue making wonderful progress. He's still working on house training and will need an adopter who understands accidents are simply part of his learning journey. He also isn't ready for free roam when left alone, as he's still a curious puppy who enjoys investigating (and chewing!) anything within reach. Because of his playful mouthiness and energetic nature, Peanut would do best in a home with teens or older children (15+ preferred). He has not been tested with cats. He would absolutely thrive with another friendly, patient dog who can continue teaching him the ropes and help build his confidence. Peanut is looking for more than just a home—he's looking for someone willing to invest in him. Someone who understands that rescue dogs don't always know how to be pets right away, but with patience, structure, love, and plenty of adventures, they blossom into incredible companions. If you enjoy hiking, long walks, outdoor adventures, training, or even dog sports like agility, Peanut would love to be your partner. He's athletic, eager to please, endlessly entertaining, and ready to become the loyal best friend he's always been meant to be. Some things we think Peanut would enjoy in a forever home: Active family or individual committed to consistency, structure and basic training Another friendly, tolerant dog for companionship (not required) Children 15+ (or an adult-only home) Patient adopter who understands he's still learning Plenty of exercise, enrichment, and love Peanut has already come so far. Now he just needs someone willing to believe in him. Give this goofy, lovable pup the chance he deserves, and you'll gain a best friend who will make every adventure a little more fun. Please note our process starts with an application. If we think you might be a good fit, we will reach out to coordinate a phone interview. This is followed by a video call with the foster home.
