Story
Luella was nearly full term in her pregnancy when she was abandoned at a local animal shelter. The shelter contacted us and we quickly sent one of our volunteers to pick her up. Luella spent several weeks in a foster home where she gave birth to two tiny puppies. Her puppies have long since been adopted, however Luella has yet to find her forever home.  This small shy Chihuahua mix prefers the company of women and is fearful of men. Luella would do best in a quiet home with someone that is home most of the day. An independent pup, she just needs to know you are near, not fond of being picked up or cuddled. Give her a good meal and a warm bed and she is perfectly content. Most of her day is spent just following you around the house or taking naps. The perfect roommate, she will listen to your troubles for hours and never complain. Luella is housebroken and enjoys having a fenced-in backyard she can explore. She had access to a doggy door in her foster home and enjoyed the freedom of being able to come and go as she pleased. Luella can be snippy with other dogs, but does do well with cats. If you’re looking for a small quiet companion that is easy to care for, Luella would be a good choice. Don't pass up this sweet, loyal pup.To adopt this pet, please go to hsnwga.org, 'Adoption' then 'Application for Adoption', to complete an online application to be preapproved. Story
Meet this sweet Chihuahua–Rat Terrier mix! This adorable 8-month-old boy came from a hoarding situation and was rescued from a county shelter, so the world is still a little scary to him—but his progress has been amazing. Once he feels safe, he warms up quickly and shows his true loving personality. He has already bonded with volunteers and absolutely loves being in your lap, soaking up quiet affection and reassurance. He’s doing well with house training and continues to improve with routine and patience.Because he can be nervous, he’s looking for a calm, low-key home where things aren’t too fast-paced. He would do best with older children (12+) who can respect his need for gentle interactions. With time, consistency, and love, he will blossom into a devoted companion. If you’re looking for a sweet, sensitive pup who just needs a safe place to land, this little guy could be your perfect match. To adopt this pet, please go to hsnwga.org, 'Adoption' then 'Application for Adoption', to complete an online application to be preapproved. Due to the high volume of applications received, our Adoption Coordinator will only contact the applicant that best meets the needs of the pet.
