Story
Well hi there - my name's Elanore, but my foster mom calls me Ellie! I’m a sweet little 14yr old, 13lb Chiweenie, with a frosty face and soft brown eyes, who lost her family a while back. I came to RCHS with numerous health problems: I had heartworm disease, multiple tumors and horrible dental disease. After months of treatments and a few surgeries, I’m all fixed up now and ready to live my bestest life!! I’m pretty laid back and love to nap, but then I’m a mature lady who doesn’t care to go crazy or chew things up. Toys, nope, they are for babies; just give me a soft doggie bed and a blanket or towel to cover myself during the day and I’m good! I like to follow foster mom around the house, as I feel safer when I know she is nearby, but otherwise, I’m pretty quiet. I like to sleep on the bed with mom and will cover myself up with a little doggie throw blanket. I just find it comforting to be close to my people. I’m fine with other dogs, except puppies who want to constantly play with me - I just can’t have that! After all, I’m a dignified mature lady! Older dogs who will leave me alone to nap are great, and cats don’t bother me a bit, I’m fine with them - they are usually much too snooty anyway. I don’t really bark, so I accidently learned how to jingle some bells that foster mom had hanging from the door knob, when I want to go outside to potty. Who says you have to be a puppy to learn new tricks!! Occasionally I forget to use the bells, but I will still go to the door. If you ask me if I have to go outside to potty, I will go with you to the door and go outside. At my age I’m not much of a jumper, so my foster mom bought a couple of foam stairs so I can get up on the couch and the bed at night and it only took me a few minutes to figure them out. I’m kind of smart like that. I’m looking for a quiet family, maybe with someone who is home most of the time, as I do get anxious when left by myself - but don’t worry, I won’t tear things up. I just get a bit scared that you aren’t coming back and I'll bounce all over when you do come back, so you will know how much I missed you. I probably would not do well in a house with little kids; maybe teens would be ok. I'm looking for a family who would understand that I’m an older lady, who no longer 'fetches' or plays with toys like a puppy, but would happily lay by them for pets and a few belly rubs.
