Story
Pixie & Tobias are a bonded pair of 5 year old 5 lb Chihuahua mixes. They are not beginner dogs and they are not looking for a typical pet home. These two are deeply bonded and must stay together. They are not comfortable with men and cannot live with children. A calm adult female only home is required. They are a known flight risk and will only be placed in a home with a secure, physically fenced yard. No exceptions. Doors, gates, and leashes must be handled carefully at all times. They are also a bite risk. They will bite if pushed past their comfort level or handled incorrectly. They need an experienced, confident adopter who understands small dog behavior, respects boundaries, and is committed to management over fixing. This placement is about safety and stability, not turning them into lap dogs. Please only apply if your application clearly states that you meet all of these criteria. If you are looking for easy, social, or kid friendly dogs, these are not them.January 10, 2026, 5:21 pm

Story
Tank Henson is currently in RI and looking for a 'furever' home!    Fresh Chihuahua Professional Lap Dog 1900s Water Bottle Heater (certified) Tank is a one-year-old, 10 lb very typical Chihuahua — if you love the breed, you already understand. Don’t let his sweet little face fool you, Tank is as fresh as they come and fully convinced he is, in fact, indestructible. When he’s not busy being brave, Tank’s favorite place in the world is curled up on your lap, keeping you warm like the best little heater you’ve ever had. Tank enjoys cozy pajamas, warm blankets, and lounging in comfort. Snow? Hard pass. Spa days? Also a no. Comfort is king in Tank’s world. Now for the important part: Tank has some past trauma and scarring from being attacked by a larger dog, and he copes by trying to act tougher than he is. Tank will attempt to bully bigger dogs and is willing to throw paws, so any dog in the home must be extremely patient, tolerant, and unbothered. Tank does do well with his Aussie mix foster sister and enjoys curling up with her for nap time. Tank is not rated E for everyone and will do best with a Chihuahua-savvy adopter who appreciates his spicy personality and big attitude in a tiny body. If you love sassy little lap dogs with confidence for days and are ready to respect Tank for exactly who he is, he just might be your perfect match. If you are interested in adopting this dog please complete the adoption application at www.rhodehomerescue.org/adoption-form to become a pre-approved adopter.   If you were already approved through Rhode Home Rescue within the last 6 months, contact us today!
