Story
Earl (A571365) is the kind of senior who immediately wins you over with how gentle and loving he is. At around 10 years old, he has entered his golden stage of life and is hoping to spend it with someone who appreciates slow mornings, soft snores and quiet companionship. Earl was brought into foster care after arriving at our shelter, and his foster has absolutely adored every moment with him. Earl is a calm, easygoing gentleman who simply wants to be near his person. He does not demand attention and is perfectly content relaxing or napping in the same room. He has wonderfully soft velvet-like ears, loves head scratches and will give you the sweetest, happiest smile in return. One of his favorite things in the world is rolling around on his back in the grass, especially on a sunny day. At night, he likes to sleep in the bedroom and lets out the most adorable soft snores while he rests.Earl is completely deaf, but he adapts incredibly well. He is attentive, watches for visual cues and learns routines quickly. He responds nicely to hand signals and a gentle tap to get his attention. His deafness does not make him difficult or demanding. He simply communicates differently, and he does it beautifully. This handsome guy is housebroken but may occasionally have an accident if left for an entire day. He would benefit from a midday potty break when possible. Earl also does well with other dogs and has no interest in being the center of attention. He takes treats gently, handles baths well and seems to enjoy being cared for. He does have arthritis and needs to take stairs slowly, so a home without many steps would be safest for him. Earl is currently heartworm positive, and his full treatment will be provided by Huntsville Animal Services.Earl is looking for someone who wants a quiet, affectionate companion who enjoys simple moments. He does not need constant entertainment. He just wants a soft bed, a person who loves him, time in the grass and a peaceful place to spend his years knowing he is safe.If you have questions or would like to meet Earl, his foster would be happy to speak with you.Earl is estimated to be around 10 years old and weighs 45 pounds. All animals adopted from Huntsville Animal Services are microchipped, appropriately vaccinated, spayed/neutered and given a 30 day flea/tick preventative.Ready to meet Earl? Story
Sweet neighborhood dog that lived his first 7 years on a chain. Now he's Off the Chain, and loving life. He's a cuddler and will show you his toys or bones to say, "thank you" and you can still make out a grin 😁 and flowy tail; he's really proud to show you his stuff. It's super cute!! He's not like a lot of dogs that tear up plushy toys. He will lay on them and lick & nudge gently the toy. 🤭😍 He's about 7 years old, healthy, alerted, heartworm negative, microchip & his shots. He makes you yearn to cuddle up next to him and rub his belly. As long as no one bothers him, Shilo gets along with other dogs. Has a light amount of resource guarding due to the little dogs that were allowed to live inside the house would run up and steal his toys. So he'll give a side-eye & a low growl if he's playing with his things. He's not a bad with food. He just doesn't want the other dogs to steal his toys. He's having to learn that everybody gets something so that there's nothing to argue over or guard. Poor Shilo never had anyone work with him being on a leash or any obedience skills, currently. But, these are all part of his training plan. 😊 Sweet, senior. Calm energy, and is always seeking your attn. Leash walks will be good for him if he wouldn't stop to sniff every 5ft. He's never had that opportunity to explore his environment.
