Jack was found running loose in a park at a park in Elk Grove. WAR trapped him and took him to the animal shelter at Elk Grove. However, we had recognized something special in him and decided to pull him from the shelter and bring him to WAR.Jack is a Chow Chow mix and his personality is very indicative a Chow. Jack is stand-offish at first but is slowly coming around. He would be best suited for someone familiar with the Chow breed and once he is yours, he will follow his person till the end of time. He is the great intimidator for those who do not understand the breed. He is NOT a biter but needs to be approached slowly because of his breeds personality. We absolutely adore Jack Jack and he is slowly being introduced to dogs in a large pack of 10 - he is doing well and does not have a mean bone in his body. Jack-Jack is also crate trained. ##2372297##

Haku is a 2 year old male Chow that was rescued from euthanasia. His owners raised him from a puppy and never had chows before. Due to a bite incident with their thirteen year old son which did not require stitches, the owners wanted him eliminated. This bite came out of nowhere and he has shown no aggression so this has been a very odd case. Haku is now with a foster in Las Vegas. Haku was left outside for over a month by his owners after the “incident” and has some anxiety. His foster has kitties and kitties are a Big No for Haku. Haku is dog friendly with male and female chows and with little dogs. He has shown no aggression even when the foster accidentally grabbed the scruff of his neck when pulling him away from a makeshift baby gate to control a Kitty situation. He is a happy boy and always smiling. He does have anxiety, however, which is understandable given that He was left outside for over a month, and although the owner said that they groomed him regularly, he came to the Foster with matting that showed lack of attention to his fur with Diarrhea on his haunches. Haku has a Banfield pet contract through the end of the year. He has all of his shots and is neutered. His birthday is May 26, 2024. He will be two years old. He is a bouncy boy and will make someone a great companion. He has lots of energy and would love to be taken for long walks and loves to be played with. Stormy is a very good girl who loves playing with the puppy in her foster home. She seems to prefer men but does great with both men and women. She is a bit shy at first but warms up in a few minutes. Stormy is housetrained, and enjoys going for walks. She may be OK with a cat since she sniffed a kitty and walked away.
