Story
Meet Honey! Fostered in east TN, Athens TN! Out of state welcome. Transport available to areas northeast or Great Lakes and is included in the adoption fee as stated here on adopt a pet. We use rescue riders for all our pet transport needs because they are the best. Meet Honey! This sweet little girl is a hot mess right now with her skin. She was so severely infested with fleas. She has scratched herself raw and has some hairloss. Rest assured she is feeling better now after being tested for fleas and getting relief from the itching. Her coat should come back full and pretty. She’s a tad shy at first meet but doesn’t take very long to warm up to new people. She is reserved and a bit independent which is typical of the breed. If you think she is cute that’s great but be sure to read up on the common traits of Chows. They aren’t typically cuddly lap dogs they can sweet natured but they don’t crave to be petted as much as other dogs. They are also not all aggressive as rumor has it. This girl is not aggressive at all. She does great with the other dogs, she would do best in a home with older teenage to young adult children simply because she is weary and shy around lots of activity. She is very confident at the same time she is shy. It’s a strange combination but she shows behaviors that tell us once she is comfortable she is going to be a confident girlie. She is spayed, current on vaccines, microchipped, heartworm negative and started on flea and tick preventives as well as heartworm preventives. She is only 33 lbs and will not get any bigger. We believe she is about two years old. She is crate trained and potty trained too. Her ideal home would be one with a fenced yard, older teenager or young adult kids no small children, active or non active family that understands her breed needs of being independent. She seems to be fine with other dogs that respect her space and doesn’t seem to need a doggie companion but would do ok with one. Please apply at pet path.org

Story
MEET ELLA! Our guess is Ella is a beautiful Labrador mix. She is estimated to be around three years old. Her journey has been nothing short of incredible—rescued in her final hours from a rural South Carolina shelter, she gave birth to her seven precious puppies the very same night she arrived. Despite her rough start, Ella has blossomed into a loving and affectionate girl. She quickly became a foster favorite, charming everyone with her sweet, eager-to-please personality. She does well with people and other dogs when introduced properly. With her laid-back nature, Ella would thrive in a loving home and would also fit in well with a more active family or even a relaxed family. Ella is fully house-trained and has adapted wonderfully to home life. She’s up to date on all vaccinations, spayed, and heartworm negative. Now that she’s almost done with her motherly duties, it’s her turn to find the loving forever home she truly deserves. If you’re interested in giving Ella the happy ending she’s been waiting for, please fill out our adoption application at www.fabsrescue.com/applications

Story
Meet Mystique! This gorgeous girl is a 3–5-year-old Chow Chow, weighing in at 43 pounds. Mystique had a pittie brother she loved to play with, but sadly, both were abandoned in an apartment. We don’t know how long they were left alone, but thankfully someone discovered them while clearing out the unit. Her brother has since been adopted — now it’s Mystique’s turn to find her forever home. Mystique has clearly been through a lot. She landed on the euthanasia list with just days to spare, but the shelter staff rallied for her. She was a favorite there, and their support bought her precious time. As with many Chows, Mystique was hesitant about affection at first, but it only took a few hours for her to start warming up. On the ride home, she was anxious — stress-panting and refusing to lie down — but once she arrived at her foster’s home, she gave a sweet, gentle lick… a true Purple Kiss of Approval! (If you know Chows, you know how special that is.) Now that she’s settling in, Mystique loves zooming around the yard before lounging on the deck, gazing out from the same spot her foster sister Autumn loves. She’s happiest with room to roam, so a home with a fenced yard or an active adopter who enjoys hiking would be ideal. Like many Chows, she’s not food motivated, but she’s catching on with leash training and respects the boundaries of a gated room. Mystique gets along well with the other dogs in her foster home, and we’d love to find her a home with a furry sibling to play with. Once comfortable, she blossoms into a goofy, lovable girl full of personality. Mystique is spayed, up to date on vaccinations, and heartworm negative.
