Story
Clifford. is located in TEXAS. There are not enough homes for all the unwanted dogs down there, so he is willing to relocate for a good, loving, forever home. Clifford was dumped on the side of a rural road with a litter of puppies. They were rescued by good Samaritans. Clifford is a super wonderful dog. He is very sweet and good-natured. He is a beta and almost all of the other dogs love him. Some of the little male dogs like to intimidate him but he simply tries to ignore them. He is very playful and loves playing with all of them. Clifford has shown an interest in chasing cats, so he may not be good with them. Clifford is mostly Chow. He weighs around 60 pounds and we estimate he may be around 2 years old. Clifford is crate-trained, knows how to sit, and walks well on a leash. He rides well in a vehicle but is a bit nervous about getting inside the vehicle. Clifford is fabulous with children. He is a bit shy with new people (especially men) and takes some time to trust. We are sure he was abused by whoever had him before. Clifford does need work with housetraining (sure he has never been in a house before) and could probably use other gentle obedience training. He gets scared when someone yells or talks in a mean voice. Clifford must be in the house as a loved member of the family. He needs to be walked on a leash and would like a securely fenced yard to run and play. Clifford is healthy. He is neutered, fully vaccinated (DAPPvL2, Bordatella, rabies), and microchipped. Clifford has been treated for heartworms and they are now dead. He is on monthly heartworm and flea prevention. Clifford's adoption fee includes the cost of ground transport to Hagerstown MD or Quicksburg VA. Clifford is being fostered in Texas and cannot be transported until after he is adopted. Story
Dunkin is a handsome 1-year and 9-month-old male Chow/Chihuahua/Blue Tick Coonhound mix and more (per DNA test). He is smart, playful, friendly to adults and food motivated. He is house and crate trained. He knows the commands sit and come, especially if a treat is involved, did we mention he is very treat-oriented? He has had some formal obedience training https://youtu.be/eOK1irOgNgE. He is young and active and will need daily exercise and mental stimulation. He is working on leash etiquette and does well with treats. He lives with children but does not like them and he doesn’t like their same-age friends. That said, he is wonderful with the adults in the home. He has lived with another dog and cat and they get along great. He is dog-selective with new dogs and a meet and greet is required if there is an existing dog. No small dogs please. Dunkin will be a great dog for the right family; he is playful, loves to fetch and explore his yard. Once he has worked off his energy he loves to snuggle on the sofa, play with his stuffed animals and figure out his treat puzzles. He weighs 60 pounds and is full grown Adoption fee is waved, application is not, Meet and greets are by appointment only. This pup is microchipped. We believe you can always teach an ‘old’ dog new tricks so we highly recommend continued obedience training for this smart pup; it stimulates the dog's mind and establishes a good dog/adopter relationship. This pup, like all pups should be on heartworm preventative, an ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure! If you are interested in adopting, please fill out an adoption form, downloadable from our website: https://www.lastchanceanimalrescue.org/adoption-request-form/ and return it per instructions. Story
Amber is a 7-year old, about 40 pound mixed breed gal looking for someone to love! She is shy at first but warms up to her people with just a little space and patience. Amber is easy to walk on the leash and loves to lay in the sun. She would thrive in an environment with low traffic as she trusts her people but takes a while to warm up to new people. Amber loves following her foster family around (including kids) and belly rubs. Amber has just completed her hw treatment and she should do well and be retested in 9 months. ADOPTION PROCESS 1. DISCLOSURE: The adoptable pets in our program are still in the care and custody of owners who wish to re-home their pet. Owners have enlisted Rescue Well to provide marketing and screening of applicants as a service, free of charge. All fees and adoption conditions are determined by the owner. We advise that adopters do not send payment or deposits for pets prior to adopting.  ***** Sweet, loving and handsome Buster is a chow/pit mix (unconfirmed), is 3 years old and weighs 55lbs.  He's neutered, up to date on his vaccines, and is microchipped.  He will do everything in his power to get love.  He stays at home during the day with Blitzen, his canine sibling he gets along with; Buster sleeps at night in a kennel beside his guardians' bed to keep him assured they're still around.  Buster especially likes car rides, but doesn't like the hardwood floors and sudden loud noises.  " Buster knows sit, and place commands. Additionally he has been leash and off leashed train to gravitate within a short distance of the person initiating the walks/activity."   Bite/Scratch/Lunge/Attack Incident:  In June/July 2022 timeframe Buster was in training with one of his canine companions and another dog at a kennel.  The bite broke the skin but animal control was not involved.  Buster's guardian explains: " The only affected participants of any direct threats were other animals in very high stress/tense situations. Buster has never attacked a human, but skin has been broken in separating the animals. Chewy could have been the problem in the animal based disagreements in the home, and Buster could have been retaliating for an earlier potential problem with the training incident."   Reason for surrender:  " Buster is a sweet and loving dog that will do everything in his power to get love, however sadly he is not on good terms with another of our animals, Chewy. Buster and Chewy began to fight and became dangerous to one another to be around, and Buster sadly has more issues with our other 2 dogs as well. Buster and Chewy have both been through obedience training to see if we could control such interactions but sadly there's just not evidence to show that it has helped them to interact or get along better. To keep Buster and Chewy safe we've had to cordon off half of our home and we dont think this is good for either pairing of dogs that we have, and over time we've seen more anxious behavior building in Buster that we truly believe he could have a better life in a single animal home." Ongoing medical treatment:  " Buster is currently taking fluoxetine and clonidine to help with managing living in a stressful environment and with our inability to give him more freedom within our home and yard without strict access controls to Chewy." Buster's guardian states the following about children:  Buster has lived with a 2yo child and recommends he live with a child, but further explains " Buster loves children, and to be completely honest after the incidents with Chewy [dog] we were fearful to allow him in vicinity of anything we thought he could deem weaker or a target. But in controlled settings with trained professionals he apparently still loves people, even very small ones.   Buster's guardian states the following about dogs: Buster lives with dogs. " Buster has responded well to every animal he has been around except for Chewy, and a dog called Avery at a training site/kennel location. Outside of those interactions Buster likes to be around dogs except those with a much higher energy level than his own, where he responds timidly." Buster's guardian states the following about cats:  Buster has not lived with cats.  " Buster was socialized almost entirely with cats before we took him into our home and with no issue. However since there are no cats in our home or in his training, we do not know how he would interact with them anymore." Buster's guardian describes his ideal future home:  " Buster would be the absolute best in a single animal home to assuage fears, however we think he does like to be around other animals so as long as he is with an animal who he gets along with then I am sure he would be happy. The ability to run and play in a yard and be a dog free of stressors in his daily existence is all we want for him. A fenced yard for him would be ideal, but we haven't had containment issues with even getting him to the parks and walking trails." Very active Playful Friendly Likes to be touched Affectionate Always at your side House-Trained Separation anxiety Rehoming Fee:  None Location:  Monrovia, MD***** ADOPTION PROCESS  1.
