Story
Meet Helen!Helen is an approximately 4-year-old Chow Chow with a quiet soul and a story that spans several states. From what we’ve been able to learn, Helen was born in New York, later lived in Tennessee and Georgia, and somehow eventually made her way to us here in Michigan. While we may never know everything she’s experienced along the way, it’s clear that this sweet girl has been through a lot of change in her life.Helen is a calm, gentle companion who tends to keep to herself. She enjoys spending time outside sniffing around at her own pace, taking in all the sights and smells around her. When she’s had enough outdoor time, she’ll politely let you know she’s ready to head back inside. She walks nicely on leash, though she can sometimes be a little nervous when the leash is first introduced. She is not particularly interested in toys and would much rather spend her days enjoying peaceful walks, quiet companionship, and a calm environment. Helen also keeps her kennel very clean, which makes us think she will transition nicely into a home routine.Because of her breed traits and the uncertainty surrounding much of her history, Helen is looking for a home with someone who is experienced with Chow Chows and understands their unique personalities and behaviors. She would thrive with patient adopters who will allow her time to settle in, build trust, and feel safe.Helen may not be the type of dog who demands attention, but for the right person, her quiet companionship and gentle nature will be incredibly rewarding.-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------If you would like to meet Helen, please submit an application for her on our website https://www.friendsofmichigan.org/adoptable-dogs. She is spayed, up to date on all age appropriate vaccines, heartworm negative, microchipped, and on monthly flea, tick, and heartworm prevention. Her adoption fee is $250, which covers part of the medical care she will receive.**Please note that the breed listed for each of our dogs is a rough estimate unless DNA results are provided in their Bio. All strays have rough estimates of their age based on the condition of their teeth. Each dog is different, so each adoption is different. Our adoption process might require multiple visits to the shelter before our dogs can go home. Or they may be ready on the first visit. It really
