Story
We are looking for a new home for our very sweet, mixed breed dog due to a family member’s very severe allergies. Reese was a stray we adopted (as a puppy) from a shelter in Wilson, NC in 2016. He’s playful and curious and loves to be where the people are. Reese is a terrific family dog and does well with other animals. He is up-to-date on his shots. We have a wireless invisible fence system that we will gladly pass on to his new owners. It has worked very well to allow him to enjoy being outside while keeping him safely within the boundaries of our yard. He is territorial and has a herding instinct. He loves tug-of war and wrestling types of play. Reese does shed. Brushing him daily helps, but needing to clean floors and upholstery more frequently should be expected. Reese also has infrequent seizures – maybe 5-6 times per year. Our veterinarian told us that they aren’t frequent enough to warrant putting him on medication. They are over in a few minutes, and he rebounds quickly.

Story
Meet Ajax! Ajax is an older adult dog at about 5 years old and weighs around 50 pounds! He same into the shelter injured from protecting another dog and his pups from a dog who wondered up. After a long recovery, Ajax has been left with several scars, but he doesn't let that damper his mood! Ajax is a very sweet boy who is very vocal when it comes to letting you know he wants some attention, he'll even wave at you to say hello! Ajax does really well on a lead especially when he knows it is to go on a walk or he knows he's about to go out into the play yard. He also shows signs of being housetrained and is non-reactive to dogs, though we still strongly recommend a dog meet and greet before going home to another dog. If you are interested in meeting with Ajax to adopt or to foster, please call us at (828)980-0016 or email us at rutherfordanimalcontrol@heartofthefoothills.org

Story
If you’re looking for a puppy with personality, Pim is your girl! Pim loves to play — especially a good game of tug. Grab a toy, and she’s ready to show off her skills! Whether it’s a rope, a squeaky toy, or anything else you happen to hand her, Pim is happy to turn it into playtime. She’s not picky — she just loves having fun. Attention? Yes, please! Pim thrives on it. When she wants your focus, she’ll do her very best to get it — whether that means bouncing your way, giving you those irresistible puppy eyes, or wiggling with excitement until you can’t help but laugh. She has a way of making you feel like the most important person in the world. Pim would do wonderfully in a home that enjoys interactive play and lots of affection. She’s a joyful, energetic little girl who just wants to love and be loved right back. If you’re ready for tug-of-war championships, endless play sessions, and a puppy who will make sure you never feel ignored, Pim is waiting to win your heart. We are currently accepting applications for this litter. When they are ready for adoption, we will carefully review all submitted applications and select the first qualified home that best matches each puppy’s personality and needs. Please keep in mind that we cannot guarantee the size any puppy will be once fully grown.

Story
Imre is the quiet little sweetheart who doesn’t need to be the loudest in the room to steal your heart. She loves attention — truly loves it — but there’s something especially tender about the way she goes about getting it. If her siblings are piling into your lap and soaking up all the pets, Imre will patiently sit off to the side, waiting for her moment. No pushing. No chaos. Just hopeful eyes and a gentle heart. And when she does get you to herself? That’s when she truly shines. Imre adores cuddles and settles in so sweetly when she has the space to be comfortable. If things get a little too crowded and she can’t quite fit, she’ll quietly step away and wait her turn again. It’s impossible not to admire her polite, thoughtful nature. She has a soft spot for soft toys — plushies she can cuddle and carry around — much more than the hard toys. It matches her personality perfectly: gentle, affectionate, and tender. Imre would blossom in a home where she can get one-on-one attention and feel secure knowing she doesn’t have to compete for love. If you’re looking for a calm, loving companion who will cherish every cuddle and give you her whole heart, Imre is patiently waiting — maybe off to the side right now — just for you. We are currently accepting applications for this litter. When they are ready for adoption, we will carefully review all submitted applications and select the first qualified home that best matches each puppy’s personality and needs. Please keep in mind that we cannot guarantee the size any puppy will be once fully grown.
