IMPORTANT: This dog has an aggression history due to severe neglect - please do not inquire without experience. We are giving him a Hail Mary before euthanization because he does have good qualities.
Frogger was brought to us from a County Shelter under the impression he was having kennel stress, and while that was true - it turned out there was a whole lot more going on. Coming Back Home Rescue cannot provide adequate care for Frogger. We will not allow fostering. He will be adopted under a liability contract stating you understand the circumstances. You may find another rescue, trainer, or someone willing to accept responsibility for Frogger. He CANNOT be in a kennel-like environment.

This kiddo was found tied up to a stop sign before the dog warden brough him in. It was clear that Frogger was not properly taken care of and endured some neglect. ChowChows are notorious for holding onto grudges, which unfortunately, has made him not as trusting of strangers. He was thrown from a County Shelter to another rescue and in less than 24 hours, he was shoved out from the rescue and ended up in ours under the impression it was kennel stress.

Introductions would be slow, and he will approach on his own terms without issues. Frogger is TOUCH SENSATIVE to his lower back, feet, and stomach. However, over time, he has given us no issues touching his back and will seek his handler out for affection. A lot of it. When we sit out on the couch, he comes running about, rolling around, and will even sit there for a long period just to be pet. **Does not like to be towered over.
Frogger prefers limited people in the home. We are suggesting no more than 2 people. ChowChows are 1 people dogs so, do expect there to be some favoritism. He is dog-friendly and used to run lead at the County Shelter's play groups. No kids due to liability.
Frogger is playful when outside of his crate and relaxed but could look intimidating for an inexperienced dog owner. He likes to grumble at his toys, get the zoomies, and even play nibble.
He's crate trained and housebroken.
Where his biggest issues begin are in his crate and around his food. Frogger is super crate sensitive and will escalate quickly from 0 to 10. Unfortunately, Frogger does not have the option to not be crated. His next biggest issues is his food bowl. We will let him out, unable to reach his handler around his crate/bowl, and place a full bowl in the very back of his crate to get him to go in and allow us to close the crate before he redirects. Overtime, (3 months), the behavior has not been as extreme but will restart with the next person.
Ideally, someone should have a space just for Frogger that can also prevent him from coming in while you clean/feed the area. Then, let him in to his own device until he's ready to come back out.
Frogger is capable of living a normal, happy life with someone who is experienced and able to accommodate a little. However, this level of aggression is a liability and does not meet CBHR Safety Bracket.

His DNA test came back about 50% Chow and 50% Bully
