Clifford in TEXAS

Chow Chow

Male, Young
Portland, OR
(when grown) Large 61-100 lbs (28-45 kg)
Good with kids, Good with dogs, Not good with cats, Shots are up-to-date,
Clifford. is located in TEXAS. There are not enough homes for all the unwanted dogs down there, so he is willing to relocate for a good, loving, forever home. Clifford was dumped on the side of a rural road with a litter of puppies. They were rescued by good Samaritans. Clifford is a super wonderful dog. He is very sweet and good-natured. He is a beta and almost all of the other dogs love him. Some of the little male dogs like to intimidate him but he simply tries to ignore them. He is very playful and loves playing with all of them. Clifford has shown an interest in chasing cats, so he may not be good with them. Clifford is mostly Chow. He weighs around 60 pounds and we estimate he may be around 2 years old. Clifford is crate-trained, knows how to sit, and walks well on a leash. He rides well in a vehicle but is a bit nervous about getting inside the vehicle. Clifford is fabulous with children. He is a bit shy with new people (especially men) and takes some time to trust. We are sure he was abused by whoever had him before. Clifford does need work with housetraining (sure he has never been in a house before) and could probably use other gentle obedience training. He gets scared when someone yells or talks in a mean voice. Clifford must be in the house as a loved member of the family. He needs to be walked on a leash and would like a securely fenced yard to run and play. Clifford is healthy. He is neutered, fully vaccinated (DAPPvL2, Bordatella, rabies), and microchipped. Clifford has been treated for heartworms and they are now dead. He is on monthly heartworm and flea prevention. Clifford's adoption fee includes the cost of ground transport to Vancouver WA. Clifford is being fostered in Texas and cannot be transported until after he is adopted. Please send an email to if you are interested in adopting this wonderful boy. Chow Chow/Mixed Breed (Large)

Male, Adult
Salem, OR
(when grown) Large 61-100 lbs (28-45 kg)
Good with dogs,
Hello, my name is Buster... short for Buster Brown... which seems to fit for me ;) I am a gorgeous color- like when you are painting things in school and you mix the burnt orange in with the brown paint- you get ME!!! I appear to be a Chow mix, my fur is medium length and somewhat fluffy and is so soft!! My face looks square and so KISSABLE!! I am about 70# so not a small boy, I know what I want in life. I have the personality of a goofy boy and smart, independent chow as well in that I LOVE my people, but can be a little reserved until I know I love them!! I came to the pound with horrible injuries to my back end, likely the result of a car accident or a drag accident. My legs were in pretty horrible shape and I was unable to walk for the first couple of days. Now my legs are completely healed over and I have totally forgotten why we are even discussing it!! I have a really strong spirit to have gotten through such awful injuries with the sweet countenance I have. I love my people and am pretty good with other dogs too. I am great in a crate, on a leash, in a house with a mouse too :) (Dr Seuss is my favorite author!!) I am ready for my forever family, I can be a little nervous with people in my face and would really be best with older kids but everyone else is cool!! Look me up and adopt me, you will never regret it- I will make all your dreams come true!! (ok, you will make MINE come true) Local adoption fee is $200 (in TX) Out of state adoption fee is $400 (includes transport to your area)

Chow Chow/Shepherd (Unknown Type)

Female, Adult
Salem, OR
(when grown) Med. 26-60 lbs (12-27 kg)
*hair blowing in the wind (even though she's indoors)* *unexplained sparkles in the air* *faint heavenly music* Yes, she is me. Chloe. Now that you are blinded by my beauty, let me explain why I am the absolute best girl on the inside too and so deserving of your (and everyone's) undivided adoration. I'm loyal, smart as a whip, and FUN, just to name a few. Unfortunately, I didn't come from the most glamorous beginnings. I was an outdoor doggy with not much interaction from birth and my family also left me behind when they moved. Thus, I wasn't really brought up interacting with you humans or being touched/handled. I've had my quirks while adjusting to being a family dog and will definitely need someone patient and understanding with me. (If you get too touchy right away, I don't like that and will try to protect myself.) However, if you are slow and gain my trust I will HANG on your every move. I have adjusted very quickly in the past with proper introductions to people. Even still, I would probably do best in a home without young children. I'm a lady after all and need time to sniff you out before you get grabby. I am an active girl and love to feel the wind in my hair outdoors too. I run with the speed of light and have a prey drive to sniff out bugs, lizards and more. I also love to play tug of war and fetch with my foster mommy inside. I bounce, bounce, bounce all the time! I am great on leash so walks and hikes would be great for me. Getting my energy out will help me focus on training too. I am very smart and learn quickly, but tend to lose interest if I'm still chock full of go, go, go!! With all of this perfection, all of your pet needs should be fulfilled, right? RIGHT? I hope so because I would do great as an only pet in the home. I have been able to co-exist with dogs at the rescue but I am a bit of a diva in my foster home. I have a domineering personality sometimes and will even mark like a male when I come across another dog's scent in my house. How dare they??? Existing? HERE? (She is otherwise house trained.) Considering that you and I know each other a little better now, you may pet me. Yes, I am very soft, I know. Please keep in mind that I am a Chow/shepherd mix and have hair that will require brushing, maybe even the occasional spa treatment, Swedish massage, 24k gold facials...yeahhhhhhhhhh.... Sorry! I forgot you were here. In all seriousness, once I trust you, I will allow you to brush me out without much fuss. It doesn't need to be daily but I am a rough and tumble kinda gal and can use help keeping my locks flowing and free. I also shed so if I seem to be losing my girlish figure, it's probably just extra hair that needs to be brushed off. I hope you have a strong vacuum. ;) I could go on for days about myself, but I'll stop here. Don't wanna overwhelm you. If you think you are up for the challenge of a total spitfire like me, please feel free to send in an application and foster mommy can tell you more about all of the grandeur that is...CHLOE. Adoption application: Local adoption fee is $200 (in TX)
