Story
Huckleberry Finn, affectionately known as Huck, is one of our Ridglan beagles who is learning to navigate a world very different from the one he once knew. Huck is a sweet, sensitive boy with a curious beagle nose and a personality that continues to blossom. After spending much of his life in an environment where everyday experiences were unfamiliar, he’s discovering what it means to be a beloved companion. Huck is still learning how to manage excitement, anxiety, and overstimulation. He thrives with consistency, structure, and a predictable routine. While he’s made progress, his future family will need to understand that building confidence and learning new behaviors takes time. Huck’s Ideal Home Huck would do best as the only dog in the household, where he can receive individualized attention, guidance, and companionship. Ideally, his adopter would be someone who works from home, is retired, or has a flexible schedule that allows them to be away no longer than four hours a day. His ideal family will be patient, compassionate, and committed to continued training using positive reinforcement. Huck needs someone who understands that adjusting to a new environment is a process and that consistency, realistic expectations, and patience are essential to his success. Huck isn’t looking for perfection, and we aren’t expecting perfection from him. We’re looking for someone who recognizes his potential and is willing to invest the time and effort to help him thrive.

Story
Chihuahua mix, you say?!? Embark says I’m 2% chihuahua, but don’t hold it against me! Hi, I’m Benji! I’m about 4 years old, and if there’s one thing you should know about me, it’s that I LOVE my people. Being with my humans is my favorite place to be, and I have more than enough love to fill your whole heart — I promise to give it back to you tenfold. I’m a happy, goofy guy who believes life is better when you’re having fun. I love playing fetch and tug, carrying around stuffed animals, going for short walks, riding in the car, relaxing on cozy couches, getting snuggles and generally finding ways to make my people smile. I’m also pretty talented at being completely ridiculous... including being upside down. I’m happiest when I’m hanging out with my people, whether we’re playing, snuggling, relaxing, or just spending time together. I adore human company and can happily entertain myself at home while my person is at work, too, no problem. I’m a young guy, but I do have some arthritis struggles, so I’ll need a family who understands that my body needs a little extra care. I’ll need regular veterinary care throughout my life, nutritious food, help maintaining a healthy weight, and gentle, light exercise to help keep me comfortable, active, and feeling my best. Short walks and playtime are perfect for me — I don’t need to be an athlete to be happy! One important thing about me: I need to be your one-and-only pet. I have plenty of love to give and would be happiest being the only furry member of the family. In return, you’ll get a devoted companion who will happily make you the center of his world. I’ve been waiting a very, very long time for my forever family. Green Heart Rescue pulled me from an overcrowded California shelter when I was facing an approaching euthanasia deadline, and I’ve been waiting ever since for someone to finally say, “You’re home.” I don’t need a perfect family. I just need my family. Someone who will love my goofy personality, appreciate my big heart, take care of my special needs, and let me be the happy, silly, affectionate boy I am. Could that someone be you? My favorites: People, people, and more people Fetch & tug Car rides Stuffed animals Short walks Cozy couches Snuggles Being goofy Being upside down Berry treats

Story
Meet Fred & Ned — a bonded father-and-son duo! Fred and Ned were rescued together from the Moreno Valley shelter and are now looking for a forever home where they can stay together. These two are a goofy, loving pair of boys who absolutely adore their people. They are loyal, affectionate, playful, and full of personality. They also have plenty of energy and can be quite barky, so they’ll do best with a family who appreciates their enthusiasm and doesn’t mind a little extra commentary from the boys. Both Fred and Ned are healthy and ready for their next chapter. Fred is estimated to be around 4 years old, while Ned is estimated to be between 2–4 years old. As for their breed mix? Your guess is as good as ours! Whatever their little mix-burrito may be, they sure are adorable. Fred & Ned are bonded and are looking for a home together. If you’re ready for double the goofy, double the loyalty, and double the love, these boys may be your perfect pair.
