Story
Meet Boss, a four year old Chihuahua/Terrier mix.Boss is a leggy, handsome boy who has clearly had a harder start than he deserves. He came to us after being brought in when his owner was arrested, and it’s evident that life hasn’t always been easy for him.Right now, Boss is looking for a calm, patient home where he can learn to feel safe and build trust at his own pace. He is a dog who wants to be with people, but he needs time and understanding to truly open up and show his personality.Because of his sensitivity and need for a quieter environment, Boss would do best in an adult home or one without young children. With gentle guidance, consistency, and kindness, we believe he will form a strong bond with his person and blossom into a loyal companion.Boss isn’t looking for a fast-paced life—he’s looking for someone who will give him the time he needs to finally relax and just be a dog. This pet is available for adoption on 6/8/2026 1:36 PM at the Yakima Humane Society adoption center. Story
Meet Roja, a ten month old Cattle Dog/Chihuahua mix weighing 25 pounds.Roja is a fun-loving young dog with a big personality packed into the perfect-sized package. She loves to play, show off her zoomies, and keep her people entertained with her silly antics. Whether it`s a hike on the trails or a game in the backyard, Roja is always ready for her next adventure.Roja is still learning her manners and can get a little mouthy when she wants attention, especially if she feels like she`s being ignored. Because of this, she`ll do best with a family committed to continuing her training and helping her learn appropriate ways to ask for attention. The good news is that she`s young, eager to learn, and ready to soak up guidance from her people. She would also benefit from continued socialization to help her grow into a well-rounded adult dog. With consistency, exercise, and plenty of positive reinforcement, Roja has all the potential to become an amazing companion. If you`re looking for a playful hiking buddy with a goofy side and a willingness to learn, Roja might be your perfect match. This pet is available for adoption on 6/13/2026 4:54 PM at the Yakima Humane Society adoption center. Story
Meet Sassy, a four-year-old Yorkie/Chihuahua mix weighing 13 pounds.Sassy is a scruffy little sweetheart with a gentle spirit and a heart full of love. Her journey hasn`t been an easy one—she came into our care after she was found injured and was suspected to have been hit by a car or some other trauma although her X-Rays were clear. She was also experiencing episodes that may have been seizures. Thanks to dedicated veterinary care, we were able to stabilize her, and she has spent time recovering under our watchful care.Today, Sassy is happy, affectionate, and ready to find a family of her own. While she has made incredible progress, she does have lasting neurological effects from her injuries. Sassy has a noticeable wobble when she walks and will likely always have some mobility limitations. She can get around on her own and enjoys exploring at her own pace, but she won`t be the dog for long hikes, jogging adventures, or strenuous activities. What Sassy needs most is a special home that will appreciate her for exactly who she is. She would thrive with someone who can provide a safe environment, patience, and lots of love. In return, Sassy offers endless sweetness, companionship, and the kind of resilience that inspires everyone who meets her.If you`re looking for a dog whose greatest talent is loving her people, and you have room in your heart for a special-needs pup, Sassy may be the perfect match. She has overcome so much and deserves a family that will help her enjoy the happy, comfortable life she`s worked so hard to reach. `Special dogs have a way of finding special people—and Sassy is waiting for hers.`This pet is available for adoption on 5/7/2026 2:00 PM at the Yakima Humane Society adoption center.
