Story
Apply to Adopt Me! Meet Winnie — a little girl with a whole lot of love to give! Winnie is a 8-month-old, 20lb. Cocker Spaniel puppy who, despite having a rough start to life, is nothing but pure love, joy and personality. Originally rescued from a shelter in Georgia, Winnie was adopted into a home but unfortunately wasn’t the right fit due to her reactivity. She went to training to work through some of those challenges, and this girl has absolutely blown us away with how quickly she learns. She picks things up incredibly fast and genuinely loves having a job to do! Winnie is super social, loves people, loves to play, and LOVES to train. She’s the kind of puppy that is happiest when she’s learning something new, playing with her people, or earning a few well-deserved cookies. She can be easily startled and needs a little time to feel comfortable in new situations, so her perfect home will be one that is patient, understanding and committed to continuing to build her confidence. Because of this, we feel Winnie would do best in a home without young children and with a family willing to let her warm up at her own pace rather than expecting her to be instantly comfortable. And honestly? It doesn't take much. Give Winnie a little patience, a little reassurance, and a few cookies, and you'll quickly discover the sweet, silly, affectionate puppy underneath it all. This healthy girl is crate trained and is working on her house training, which she will continue to learn as long as she is taken out often. She walks well on leash, and loves to play with toys (she can fetch a ball all day long!). She behaves when riding in a car but does get very carsick and throws up. She has already made incredible progress, and we know she has so much more potential with the right family by her side. She doesn't need a perfect home - she needs a patient home that will help her feel safe, continue her training, and show her that the world isn't such a scary place. In return, Winnie will give you in abundance: love, laughter, loyalty and a lifetime of puppy adventures. With just a little patience and a few cookies, Winnie will be your best friend for life. She will need often brushing and regular grooming.
