Story
Darla is a 5 year old breeder release Clumber Spaniel. She is a very gentle soul who is unsure of humans. Her skill set includes watching the world from safe places and learning how to be a dog. Darla is goofy as she learns by watching the other dogs. She willingly participates in any excitement even if she doesn’t understand what she’s getting excited about. Darla loves soft toys to carry around especially when she’s walking on a leash. With a stuffy in her mouth, her confidence on a leash improves and it becomes safe to walk close to a human. While Darla is leary of humans, she has allowed her desperately needed coat care to be done slowly over several days. Brushing her coat is done in small increments over many days. Bath time was not one of her favorite activities, but was tolerated. Darla has enjoyed being with the other dogs both inside and outside of the house. She gives corrections to overly rambunctious dogs in a gentle motherly way. In her adoptive home, a canine sibling is required. Darla drags a leash with her for safety as she learns her new surroundings inside a home or outside in a fenced space. A fenced yard is required for Darla’s adoptive home. Currently, Darla finds safety in a crate or “hiding”under the footrest of a recliner. She will come to the front of her crate to get leashed up in the morning. Darla currently uses a 54” crate, but will be moved to a smaller 48” crate as she gains trust in humans. She keeps a tidy crate. Darla has a fear of bulky, clunky snow boots. She also doesn’t tolerate any of the treats labeled easily digestible. If you are interested in meeting Darla, please fill out an application at camp companion.org. Her adoption fee is $350.

Story
Meet Birdie — the softest little soul with the sweetest comeback story 💛 Birdie is a beautiful breeder-release Clumber Spaniel who arrived shy, unsure, and taking in the world one cautious step at a time. But oh, how things have changed. Every single day, Birdie blossoms a little more — and now that she’s discovered her tail, she uses it *constantly* to show just how happy she is. This gentle girl has a heart of gold. She’s playful in the most endearing ways — happily carrying laundry around the house like it’s her prized possession, enjoying her toys, and engaging in sweet, respectful play with her foster dog siblings. She’s even been incredibly patient with a young puppy tugging on her ears (yes, really!) and shows a quiet curiosity around cats. Birdie is mastering her potty training and has discovered that walks are one of life’s greatest joys. At night, she prefers the comfort of her dog bed and sleeps soundly — no kennel required. In fact, Birdie would very much like to formally decline crate life altogether… she will make her opinion known if asked to go in one! She will bark loudly. Birdie does have a couple of medical needs her future family should be aware of. Our vet recommends that she be evaluated by a veterinary ophthalmologist for possible “diamond eye” surgery to help correct her droopy eyes. She’s also prone to chronic ear infections that will need ongoing management to keep her comfortable and healthy. Birdie is truly something special — a tender, gentle girl who is learning what love, safety, and joy feel like. Watching her confidence grow is a gift, and her future family will be the lucky ones who get to see her continue to shine. Birdie will need leashed when outside, if not in a fenced yard. If you’re looking for a kind-hearted companion with a soft spirit and a quietly playful side, Birdie might just be your girl 🐾 Apply to adopt at www.campcompanion.org. Adoption fee is $350 plus tax.
