Story
Meet Rudy Rudy is a 10+ year old senior Mini Poodle, a breed beloved for being bright, affectionate, and deeply people‑focused. He's living proof that age is just a number, this little guy still has plenty of pep in his step and a joyful outlook on life. Rudy arrived with us as a stray, so much of his earlier story is unknown. What we've discovered since then is a dog who thrives on companionship and connection. He's sweet, cuddly, and playful; and he truly shines when he's spending time with his people. Rudy enjoys toys, regular walks, and any chance to be involved in whatever his humans are doing. To make sure Rudy is feeling his best as he prepares for his next chapter, he recently had a dental procedure (thanks to the generous support of our donors) along with senior bloodwork. His mouth is now comfortable, and his overall health has been carefully checked, setting him up for success in a loving forever home. As with any senior dog, adopters should be prepared for some ongoing veterinary care and potential future medical expenses that can come with giving an older dog the love and support they deserve. Training & Support Rudy has shown some signs of separation anxiety, which isn't surprising given how much he values human companionship. He forms strong bonds and prefers not to be left behind. He will do best with gentle, reward‑based guidance, clear routines, and reassurance to help him feel safe and secure. With patience and consistency, Rudy can continue building confidence and learning that time alone doesn’t mean he’s been forgotten. Ideal Home Rudy would thrive in a home where he can enjoy lots of affection and company. A household where someone is home much of the time, or able to help him gradually adjust to short periods alone, would be a great match. He’d love daily walks, chances to play with toys, and plenty of cozy cuddle spots. Rudy will do best as the solo dog in his new home as he gets very overstimulated around other dogs and has shown he cannot settle and relax. While he may need a little time to settle in, once he does, Rudy promises to be a loving, loyal companion who brings warmth, joy, and plenty of snuggles to his forever family. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- All adult dogs at Animal Services have veterinary health checks, and are spayed or neutered, vaccinated, dewormed and defleaed (if necessary) before going to their new homes. Children: Yes Cats: Maybe Dogs: Yes Training Needs: Separation Anxiety Adoption Fee: $119 If you live in the City of Vancouver, you will also need to purchase a dog licence. Story
🏠 Currently in a Vancouver foster home Hi… my name is Aria 🤍 I’m a 1-year-old female Cocker Spaniel mix, and I weigh about 6kg. I’m very small and very quiet—so quiet that sometimes people don’t notice me at first. I was rescued from an animal hoarding situation. There were more than 80 dogs living in a space so crowded there was hardly room to stand. In that place, I learned to curl my body in tight and stay still, just to protect myself. I was so gentle and timid that even when other dogs were rough with me, I never cried out or fought back. I just endured everything in silence. Thankfully, I was rescued—and for the first time, I was held in human arms. Because of my past, I rely on people more than other dogs. At first, even a gentle touch felt unfamiliar and scary. But little by little, as I felt human warmth, I began to calm down and feel safe. I don’t demand attention. I’ll quietly walk over and sit beside you. That’s how I show my love. Just being close is enough for me. I am extremely gentle, very small, and truly beautiful— but more than anything, I am incredibly loving. I sometimes use pee pads, but if my environment changes, I’ll need patient guidance and time to relearn. I’m new to home life, so everything I experience is part of my learning journey. Because I spent so long surrounded by many dogs, I may have some separation anxiety. That’s why I hope to meet a family who can spend a lot of time with me and help me feel secure. For so long, I lived in a narrow, dark space, curled up just to survive. Now, I hope to learn how to lean comfortably into my family’s love— to rest without fear, and to belong. I’m waiting for my first and last true family. If you choose me, I promise to stay by your side, quietly and faithfully, with my whole heart. 🕊️

Story
My name is Luca. I’m a 2-year-old boy, just 6kg, and a Cocker Spaniel mix with a very gentle heart. I may be so quiet and small that you don’t notice me at first. I’ve learned how to make myself small. I had to. I was rescued from an animal hoarding site where more than 80 dogs lived in a space with barely room to move. To survive there, I curled my body in tight and stayed very still. I didn’t bark. I didn’t fight back. Even when other dogs were rough with me, I endured it silently. That was the only way I knew how to stay safe. Now, for the first time in my life, I’m learning what it means to be in a person’s arms. At first, I’m a little cautious when someone reaches out to me. People are still new to me. But little by little, I’m learning that hands can be warm, gentle, and comforting. As time passes, you’ll see something very special about me. I start to come closer on my own. I sit quietly beside you. I lean into you. That is how I show my heart. That is how I ask for love. I am extremely gentle, very small, and very, very sweet. I sometimes use pee pads, but because home life is completely new to me, I will need patient guidance as I learn. Everything in a home is a new experience for me, and I’m still figuring out the world. Because I lived surrounded by so many dogs for so long, I may feel anxious when left alone. If possible, I hope to find a family who can spend a lot of time with me and help me feel safe. I spent my life curled up in dark, crowded spaces just trying to protect myself. Now, I’m hoping to learn how to relax, how to lean on someone, and how to live wrapped in love. I’m waiting for my first… and last… real family. Love, Luca 🐶
