Rescued from a neglectful breeding situation, they arrived in our care with a coat so matted and overgrown that it hindered their movement, but beneath those years of neglect lies a heart of pure gold. Because they were never properly socialized with the outside world, Truffle views new things with a quiet caution; they are looking for a patient, gentle hand to guide them as they learn that the world can be a safe and kind place. They are exceptionally sweet and thrive on soft words and calm energy, slowly blossoming with every bit of trust they regain. Truffle’s ideal forever home is a quiet, well-adjusted environment where the hustle and bustle of a busy household won’t overwhelm their progress. They are currently learning the basics of "how to dog," including following a routine and understanding house boundaries, so they need a family committed to providing consistent structure and positive reinforcement. While Truffle may start off shy, the payoff of seeing them wag their tail for the first time or lean in for a snuggle is a reward unlike any other. They are ready to trade their difficult past for a future filled with cozy beds, belly rubs, and the unconditional love they’ve always deserved.
