MY ORIGINAL INTAKE INFORMATION: Hi Everyone! My name is Tara, and I just arrived at CSAC. I was rescued from a puppy mill. I am scared because I have not been around a lot of people or lived in a home as a pet. I have spent my life in a barn, a shed or a cage. The best home for me has people who have dog experience who can help with my training and acclimating to the outside world. The people in my new home should be able to teach me the skills I need to be a great pet: walking on a lead, house training, and socializing. I will need time to trust people who want what is best for me and are not going to hurt me. That is something I have not experienced so far in my life. Right now, I am in the caring hands of one of the great Vets that work with CSAC. They are checking me out and making sure I am healthy. Hopefully, I will find my new family that will help me to understand that I am a cherished family pet, not just an animal to be used to make money. For more information about this dog, email our Adoption Coordinator. Our adoption process starts with an application. If you are interested in adopting this pup, please click the Adopt menu at the top of the screen, read about our process, and click the application link. The medical and custodial care of the many Cockers in our care is tremendous. More and more dogs are abandoned with urgent and serious medical issues. We are committed to providing the best possible care for these forgotten friends. Unfortunately, the mounting high costs are beginning to limit the number of dogs we are able to take into our program. Even if you cannot adopt or foster one of our current adoptable dogs, please consider making a donation. The Cocker Spaniel Adoption Center is a 501(c)(3) non-profit charitable organization, and your donations are entirely tax deductible. Click the Donate menu at the top of the screen. Story
We acquired Justice from Ole Field Farm from an experienced breeder in Union Bridge, MD on Christmas Eve 2022. We brought her home when she was a little over 8 weeks old and she was already home trained. Since we got her during the pandemic, she missed out on key socializing time. She can be anxious around stranger and other dogs, but is fine once she warms up to them. She spent a good 4 months at home with my mother’s dog and they got along well. She enjoys play time with plushy toys and belly rubs.

Story
Apollo came from a recent litter back in August. We originally planned to keep him, but due to a change in our family situation, that is no longer possible. He is a great, loving puppy who does really well with kids, other dogs, and cats. He is crate trained, and while he is almost fully house trained, he still needs a little consistency and patience since he is still a puppy.

Story
Simba is a small adult dog with a sweet and loyal personality once he feels comfortable. He loves being around his person and enjoys a calm, structured environment. Simba is crate trained and does well with routine. He can be anxious in new situations and around unfamiliar people, which may cause him to bark or become defensive. He will likely bark quite a bit during the first few days as he adjusts to a new environment. Because of this, Simba would do best in a home with an experienced dog owner who understands how to give him time and space to adjust. He would do best in a home without small children. Simba would do best in a house rather than an apartment, as he can be vocal at times. A home without carpet is preferred. Simba has so much love to give and forms a strong bond with his owner. With patience, consistency, and the right environment, he can be a very loyal and rewarding companion. We are looking for a home that can provide him with stability.

My name is Ezekiel, and I just arrived at CSAC from a shelter. I was found stray. The CSAC volunteer said that I was sweet and friendly. I need a special home to take care of me for rest of my senior years. I do have a grade 3 of 4 heart murmur and a minor luxating patella. I need a new home that can take care of medical needs and take me on slow gentle walks. Right now, I am in the caring hands of one of the great Vets that work with the CSAC.
