Story
Meet Etta, an 8-year-old mini Poodle with a heart that’s just beginning to open. She comes from a puppy mill, so much of the world is still new to her, and learning to trust people will take time, patience, and understanding. Etta is looking for her very first real home - one that will allow her to move at her own pace and celebrate every small victory along the way.A calm, patient household is essential for Etta, and having another friendly dog in the home would be a big help. A canine companion can show her how to relax, feel safe, and learn the everyday routines of being a beloved pet.Etta is still learning about house training and leash walking, and her future family should expect a gradual process rather than quick progress. With consistency and kindness, she will continue to grow more confident.Adding to her quiet charm is her beautiful chocolate-colored coat, which makes her just as lovely on the outside as she is within. For the right home, Etta will be a deeply rewarding companion.

Story
Meet Howard, a 10-year-old mini Poodle mix with a gentle soul and a lifetime of love still to give. This handsome boy is looking for his very first real home after spending his early years in a puppy mill. Because of that, Howard is still learning what it means to feel safe, loved, and truly part of a family.Howard is a little shy at first and needs time to build trust, but with patience and kindness, his sweet personality begins to shine. He would do best in a quiet, calm home with someone who understands that slow and steady wins the race. A gentle routine and soft voices go a long way with this sensitive guy.Another friendly dog in the home would be a wonderful bonus for Howard, helping him feel more confident and less alone, though it isn’t required. With his beautiful coat, soulful eyes, and handsome charm, Howard is impossible not to root for.If you have a peaceful home and a compassionate heart, Howard may be the perfect companion to share your days with - finally, just as he deserves.

Story
PLEASE NOTE- AN APPLICATION FROM THE WEBSITE ALMOSTHOMEDOGS.ORG IS REQUIRED prior to any meet and greet. Calling, emailing or "inquiring" is not useful and will delay your consideration in the adoption of the dog. Meet Pumbaa, a truly special dog with a sweet and patient personality. He can be a bit shy when meeting new people but he opens up quickly—specially if treats are involved. Pumbaa has a playful touch of puppy energy while still being able to settle down for cuddles or sleep soundly through the night. Pumbaa walks nicely on a leash and greets other dogs in a friendly manner. Pumbaa does want to have lots of attention and may be a little pushy sharing that. Overall, Pumbaa is playful, loving, and a true joy to be around and with continued time and training, he will grow into an amazing companion. About 1.5 and 15 pounds Because our dogs are in foster homes, applications are required prior to setting up any appointments. Calling or emailing may delay your consideration. Find our application on our website, almosthomedogs.org. Adoption Fee is $450. All of our dogs will be microchipped. We are a non profit no kill 501 (c)3 rescue. Please understand that we do our best to describe our dogs but often we rescue them with virtually no information about them and often our best educated guess can be challenging. Currently check or cash is preferred payment.

Story
Me me me me meeeeeee!!!!!! What? Oh. My foster mom says that is NOT how to spell my name. It is spelled “MiMi" which sounds the same but who cares how it is spelled. I am a vintage model of a little poodle and I was a much loved member of the family at one time. Not to say that I am spoiled or anything but I know what I want when I want it! So it really is all about me! I adore being around my people and love being held. I will make little whimpering noises if you are there and I think I haven’t had enough lap time and look at you with my puppy dog eyes so that you feel guilty and pick me up where I want to be. I am a healthy 14 year old poodle who is scheduled for spay and teeth cleaning on Jan. 5th and then will be able to go to my new home after that. I use a potty pad when I am sleeping on the floor, but my foster mom puts a diaper on me when I sleep on your bed because I am not too keen about jumping off the bed. So when I have to potty, if I am on the bed, sometimes I will potty the bed. But the diaper takes care of that. I am a whopping 10 pounds and do walk pretty well of a leash as long as you don’t walk too fast. I am housebroken if you take me out on a schedule. Adoption fee in Texas is $200 Out of State fee with transport and fuel surcharge is $450.

Story
If you are interested in adopting or fostering this dog. Please visit our website - www.cockeradoptions.org   There, you will find the current status of the dog, the links to our adoption and foster applications, and detailed information about our adopting and fostering procedures.   MY ORIGINAL INTAKE INFORMATION: Hi Everyone! My name is Brownie, and I just arrived at CSAC. I was rescued from a puppy mill. The CSAC volunteer said that I am quiet and affectionate. I have spent my life in a barn, a shed or a cage. The best home for me has people who have dog experience who can help with my training and acclimating to the outside world. The people in my new home should be able to teach me the skills I need to be a great pet: walking on a lead, house training, and socializing. Right now, I am in the caring hands of one of the great Vets that work with CSAC. They are checking me out and making sure I am healthy. Hopefully, I will find my new family that will help me to understand that I am a cherished family pet, not just an animal to be used to make money. For more information about this dog, email our Adoption Coordinator. Our adoption process starts with an application. If you are interested in adopting this pup, please click the Adopt menu at the top of the screen, read about our process, and click the application link. The medical and custodial care of the many Cockers in our care is tremendous. More and more dogs are abandoned with urgent and serious medical issues. We are committed to providing the best possible care for these forgotten friends. Unfortunately, the mounting high costs are beginning to limit the number of dogs we are able to take into our program. Even if you cannot adopt or foster one of our current adoptable dogs, please consider making a donation. The Cocker Spaniel Adoption Center is a 501(c)(3) non-profit charitable organization, and your donations are entirely tax deductible. Click the Donate menu at the top of the screen.
