Story
Eevee (spayed, 22 pounds, 4 years old) is a sweet, affectionate dog looking for a home where she can be close to her favourite people.  Her family is hoping to rehome her to a home without children under the age of 12 years old.  She is uncomfortable with the toddler in the home and either avoids them or growls at them to keep distance. She loves walks, sniffing, playing fetch, and cuddling. She walks well on leash but will bark at dogs and squirrels, so she’ll benefit from continued training and guidance. Eevee will bark when strangers come to visit and needs some time to warm up to new people.  Once she is familiar with someone, she’ll happily remember them and become very affectionate. She has never lived with another dog and her only experience with dogs is seeing them on walks when she may bark and pull when she sees them.  She also has never lived with a cat. Eevee is house trained and will pee and poop in the yard and on walks but also uses pee pads in the home on occasion.  She doesn't like to go out in the rain and may use her pee pads then or if she is not taken out frequently enough. She will need routine grooming by a professional groomer and her current owner has her groomed every 2-3 months.  Her owner also regularly brushes her, trims her nails, and cleans her teeth. At home, Eevee has a great routine and loves her sleep. She happily sleeps through the night in her own bed beside yours, but if invited, she’ll gladly curl up at your feet in bed for extra cuddles.  She is not vocal when left alone and is currently used to being left alone for a couple of hours at a time but has been left up to 6 hours in the past. Eevee would do best with a patient family who can give her plenty of love, attention, exercise, and a consistent routine.  Please complete our Adoption Application if you would like to add Eevee to your family. Due to time constraints, we cannot respond to every email asking for more information on a dog. Please carefully review the bio for the dog and our adoption process https://www.speakingofdogs.com/adoption/adoption-process/.  If you are still interested in adopting, please fill out the adoption application form at the bottom of that page.July 6, 2026, 2:42 pm

Meet Lyza: The Ultimate Cuddle Bug! Energy Level: Medium Status: Looking for her forever home Location: Fostered in St. Jacobs Ontario View Lyza's full album of photos and videos here https://www.facebook.com/media/set/?vanity=hobohavenrescue&set=a.997939592856667 If you are looking for a shadow-like companion who thrives on human affection, Lyza is your girl! She is an incredibly sweet, loving, and clingy pup who has spent her time in foster care learning how wonderful it is to be a cherished family member. Lyza has an endless supply of love to give and is ready to find a permanent soft landing. Personality & Heart Lyza is the definition of a people-pleaser when it comes to affection. She is exceptionally cuddly and has yet to meet a single person she doesn't want love from. Whether inside the home or out on adventures, everyone she encounters is an immediate friend. She is completely fine with all physical handling, making grooming and daily care a breeze. Social Skills & Companionship With Dogs: Lyza has been fantastic with all dogs. She currently co-habits with a playful foster puppy and a gentle St Bernard adult. Lyza is excellent at giving appropriate boundaries—she will politely correct puppy behaviors or high-energy antics when a younger dog gets too close in her personal space. With Cats: Lyza is cat-friendly! She was tested with cats in a previous foster home and proved to be curious but entirely respectful. With People: Lyza is happiest when she is the center of attention. She wants to be right by your side soaking up all the pets you can offer. She is seeking a home with someone home often. Daily Routine & Training Exercise & Leash Skills: Lyza enjoys a 2025 minute walk daily. She is generally good on her leash, though her curious nature means she can get easily distracted by the world around her. Grooming: As a poodle/cocker mix, Lyza requires daily grooming to prevent matted fur and regular grooming appts to keep her coat in good condition and keep her face clean. Commands: Lyza is a blank slate when it comes to traditional obedience training. She does not currently know commands like "Sit," "Stay," or "Come," but what she lacks in formal training, she makes up for in pure, sweet compliance. She is motivated heavily by human food rewards! Crate Training: No. Lyza does not get crated. She has excellent house manners and does not require a crate when left alone. In fact, traditional crating causes her severe distress and triggers anxious bathroom accidents. She was surrendered by a commercial breeder who kept her caged for her first 6 years as a breeding dog and she is now thriving with all of the comforts she is enjoying as a beloved pet in a home. Potty Habits & Preferences Lyza is house-trained, but she has a unique preference: she needs her human to physically walk around the yard with her to successfully do her business. She rarely has accidents inside, though she is a sensitive soul; if her daily routine is heavily disrupted, she may experience temporary anxious poops. Fortunately, as she has decompressed and grown comfortable in her foster home, these incidents have drastically decreased. Diet & Medical Notes Lyza is a happy, healthy girl with one charming feature—she has no teeth! She arrived with horrifying dental decay and had to have all teeth removed. Because of this, she cannot eat hard kibble or treats. She eats a delicious diet of crumbled and soft foods twice a day, including freeze-dried raw, Open Farm meatballs, and Wellness Core Mini Meals. Her veterinarian has recommended a target of 450 calories per day to keep her in perfect shape. Lyza shows absolutely no resource guarding behaviors over her food or toys. Transportation Because of her aversion to crates, Lyza travels best by being securely seatbelted with a harness in the backseat of the vehicle. Once buckled in, she is a dream passenger—perfectly quiet and content to lay down for the ride. The Ideal Forever Home Lyza is looking for a home that matches her deeply affectionate and sensitive nature. Her perfect match includes: Plenty of Company: A family where someone is home most of the time to give her the close companionship and attention she craves. She handles being alone for up to 4 hours well, but prefers a human-centric lifestyle. A Potty Partner: Adopters who don't mind stepping out into the yard to keep her company during her bathroom breaks in any weather. No Crating: A home committed to letting her freely enjoy the house or using alternative gates/playpens instead of a traditional crate. Soft Food Commitment: A dedicated owner ready to keep her on her soft meals to accommodate her toothless grin. Lyza has spent her time in rescue learning that the world is a kind place, and she cannot wait to bring her immense warmth to a forever family.
