Story
I adopted Raya from an animal shelter about last year and she is approximately 2yrs old. Raya is a really timid but super sweet girl. I have no idea what she went through before I got her but she can be really anxious and needs a home where someone can be home often or at least has other animals because she has separation anxiety. I still have yet to hear her bark. Raya loves playing with other dogs and that’s when she is the happiest. She loves to sleep in bed with someone or to be snuggled up on the couch. She has a large kennel and bed that I’ll send with her to her new home. I have to relocate to Texas for work and can’t take her with me and I really need to find her a loving forever home.

Story
Meet Leia – A Gentle Soul Ready for a Soft Place to Land Leia (affectionately called Lay Lay or Lei Lei) is a 1.5-year-old Collie/Lab mix, weighing around 40 lbs. She spent the first part of her life as a stray with her sister Gumbo, then endured 7 long months in a shelter, where fear kept her pressed against the back of the kennel, hoping to disappear. Now in foster care, Leia is learning that the world can be kind. She’s a very sweet, gentle girl who’s just shy and unsure around new people. She may keep her distance at first or bark from across the room, but she’s never aggressive—just scared. With time and patience, her silly, playful side begins to shine, and it’s such a joy to witness. Leia’s ideal home will be calm and understanding, with someone who knows that building trust takes time. Once she feels safe, she loves being part of the action—especially if that action involves going for walks, which are truly the highlight of her day. She’s the first to the door and loves being out front, sniffing, exploring, and trying to chase critters along the way. She’s also: - Crate trained and goes in willingly - House trained, especially with a doggy door - Gentle taking treats, though she may prefer you place them on the floor - Not destructive, though she might sneak a sock or shoe on occasion - Great with other dogs, especially playful ones - Good with cats in a home setting - No resource guarding issues Leia doesn't need much—she's not into toys, but she loves flipping dirt in the yard, chasing the hose, and napping on a dog bed by the window. Her joy is quiet, simple, and genuine. Her perfect match? Anyone with a calm home and a gentle heart, who is willing to give her the time she needs to settle in, and who will take her on walks where she can truly come alive. Leia’s past may have been hard, but her future is wide open. She’s looking for someone who sees the beauty in the shy ones and is ready to show her what a loving forever home feels like. Story
Molly is 2 years old & 50lbs. She came to us after being found with a gunshot wound in her leg. Her leg was amputated before coming to us. Unfortunately there were some issues with her amputation which required her to be opened back up in order to flush out infection & suture her properly. Molly is a beautiful girl that loves to hoard all toys. She knows basic commands & has done well overall in her foster home. She may be a tripod but she is still an active girl. Currently fostered with other dogs. To adopt, please complete an adoption application. https://www.shelterluv.com/matchme/adopt/SHRA/Dog

Story
UPDATE! Meet Marshall! This sweet boy and his sibling were found dumped. They are adorable mix breed… we would guess Collie/Lab, but that just a guess. They are 8ish weeks old and so so sweet. They will be ready in two weeks after second vaccines and they are altered. We are taking apps now and reserving them to the perfect forever home!  Our adoptions are NOT on a first come first serve basis and there is no fee to apply! We never state any animal is fully House-trained. New environments, situations, families, routines, ect. can lead to accidents even with the most well trained animals.  All dogs have a $195 adoption fee which includes vet check, age appropriate shots (atleast 2 sets for puppies), dewormer, heartworm test (if over 6 months), rabies (if atleast 16 weeks) and spay/neuter! Puppies will be altered before adoption. All rescues and shelters practice pediatric spay and neuter. This is essential in our rescue efforts and it is a policy that we will stick by. All dogs over 8 weeks and 2 pounds will be altered before adoption. There are no exceptions to this rule on all healthy and adoptable dogs. We have researched and discussed in depth with multiple vets everything on pediatric spay and neuter and from a rescue stand point it must be done. Please do not ask for an extension on spay and neutering, it will NOT be granted on a healthy puppy!  Puppies/Dogs that are not available for adoption due to vetting not being complete can be reserved with an approved application and a non refundable $50 deposit. Deposits can ONLY be submitted once the rescue has been in contact on your approval and it has been requested through Wags and Whiskers. This deposit is applied to your adoption fee and the remaining $145 is due at pick up. Wags and Whiskers is an all-volunteer rescue. Please allow us time to respond to all inquires and applications! Thank you!
