Meet Rascal!**CURRENTLY IN FOSTER HOME VISITS BY APPOINTMENT ONLY**He's, well, a rascal! This old gentleman lives for walks with his brother, Leonard. They are a bonded pair and must go to a home TOGETHER! Rascal also enjoys his cookies and hanging around with his people. Sometimes when he gets a pep in his step, he'll let out a cough to show his age; but he doesn't slow down!Rascal's ideal home (Other than being with Leonard) is a home free of young kids under the age of 10 years old. He's not a fan of children and for sure would say "Get off my lawn!" He is, however, willing to meet current dogs in the home who are of a calm nature. Kitties need not apply.*As of the beginning of May, Rascal has been diagnosed with congestive heart failure. We are looking to fill his final days with a calm, comfortable, loving home ready to provide attentive vet care. Interested in these two boys? Swing on down with the whole family to meet with them!

Meet Leonard!**CURRENTLY IN FOSTER HOME VISITS BY APPOINTMENT ONLY**This big, goofy, happy boy enjoys the simple things in life! We'd say lazy walks, but he has a pep to his step when he walks! He also LOVES food; he knows what a treat pouch is and will muzzle boop it to tell you he wants a cookie! Leonard is bonded with his brother Rascal, and they must go to a home TOGETHER! They cannot be separated.Leonard and Rascals ideal home would be one free of young children (Under the age of 10yrs) and those of the feline persuasion; they are old men who have coined the saying "Get off my lawn"! They are looking for a peaceful retirement home that may or may not have other calm dogs.Interested in meeting the boys? Swing on down with the whole family to ask about them!

Story
COURTESY POST PLEASE READ THOROUGHLY Meet Kip. He is a big, rough collie weighing 85 lbs. who will be 4 years old in May. He is a professional counter surfer and tailgater who believes everything should made into a game. Kip’s motto is a “tired dog is a good dog”. He thrives on tongue dragging games of fetch and long hikes in the woods. He loves to play with other dogs but he can sometimes overwhelm his playmates. Playmates his age with lots of energy and excellent doggy social skills with an owner that knows how to que him to disengage would be perfect. Kip must have a person who has strong and consistent positive dog training skills that can help him reach his full potential. Kip would make a good go anywhere and do anything companion if given the chance. He craves interaction with his person. Kip was abused as a puppy and unfortunately learned that the only way he could protect himself was to defend himself. He does have a bite history. His new owner or family cannot and should not physically “punish” or “discipline” him in any way. Absolutely no children. Kip is very food motivated which makes him very easy to train. Amazingly he has no food aggression or resource guarding. He is not destructive when left in the house and does not have any separation anxiety. He might “mark” in a new home and he can get a bit “nippy” and “yippy” when excited like herding dogs can and he needs continued training to keep “all 4 on the floor”. Like all dogs, Kip thrives on a quiet, stable homelife with a predictable schedule. He is happiest sleeping near his person. The following are non-negotiable requirements: Kip requires a home with another young, active, large dog. A place with lots of land no neighbors and a fenced in yard is a must. You must own your own house and be within 3 hours of central Vermont. If interested please go to www.journeyanimalrescue.org to submit an application. Only once the application is approved will a meet and greet with all human and canine family members be set up. Adoption fee is 450.
