Story
Meet Optimus Prime 5-year-old Coonhound Mix He came to us from our friends at the Seminole Tribe and had to be humanely trapped because he was far too scared to approach people on his own. Life hadn’t been kind to him, and trust doesn’t come easily. Today, Optimus is living in foster care where he continues to make slow but meaningful progress. He has recently learned his name, is beginning to learn basic commands, and is discovering that good things happen when he chooses to engage with the people around him. Other dogs are his security blanket. Optimus absolutely needs a confident canine companion in his future home and looks to other dogs for guidance, comfort, and reassurance. He has especially benefited from living with Anastasia, one of our other rescue dogs, who has helped him build confidence and feel safer in the world. While he may never be the dog who rushes up to greet strangers, Optimus is starting to enjoy parts of life he once found overwhelming. He loves car rides, watches his foster dog friend closely, and is slowly learning how to just be a dog. Men still seem particularly scary for him, so he may do best in a female-only household or one with very limited male traffic. More than anything, he needs a quiet, predictable home where he can continue building trust at his own pace. The biggest victories with Optimus are the small moments: responding to his name, learning a new cue, choosing to stay close, or relaxing enough to simply exist. For a dog who once trusted no one, those moments mean everything. 💛 If you have a calm home, a confident dog, and the patience to let a shy dog blossom, Optimus Prime may be waiting for you.

Story
Hey there! We're the fish puppies, named after fish! We came in with our mom, named Ahi (also available for adoption!) when our owner was suddenly evicted and didn't know what to do. We don't know what our dad was, but we suspect some kind of dachshund or bassett hound mix, as we all have very short little legs and are pretty small! Our mom, Ahi, weighs about 35lbs, so we can expect to be somewhere around 20-35 lbs full grown, but we're not really sure. We've all spent some time in foster homes starting to learn the basics of how to live in a house. We're very sweet and love people and other dogs! Let one of us swim into your heart!

Story
Hello there, I'm Van Gogh. I'm named that because, well... I have a strange ear! But it doesn't get in the way of me having a good time. I was found as a stray though MCAS and then brought to VOCAL. I'm very friendly and love going on long walks and exercising my long deer-like physique. I do well with other dogs too! I enjoy going to play groups and socializing with some friends that I've made here. And now I'm ready to Gogh to my new home!
