Story
Pluto has been part of our family for the last 4 years after we rescued him from a shelter when he was about 9 months old. He’s grown up with our two young kids, our other dogs, and even our cats. He’s incredibly loving, social, great with kids, and happiest when he’s around people or other dogs. This is an extremely difficult post for us to make because we love Pluto deeply and never imagined we’d be in this position. Our family is preparing for a major cross country move related to our son’s medical condition, and we’ve had to face the reality that we may no longer be able to give Pluto the exercise, space, and consistent attention he truly deserves. There’s a lot of heartbreak and guilt in even considering this, but we care about him enough to put his long term happiness first. We’d love to find him a home where he’ll have room to run, interaction with other dogs, and people who will truly make him part of the family.

Story
Meet Gage! A spirited one-year-old Mountain Cur/Coonhound mix currently in Chattanooga, TN, whose essence is a lively mix of heart and playfulness wrapped in a stunning brown brindle coat. Gage is the kind of pup who can instantly brighten your day with his joyful energy and irresistible charm! His favorite hobbies include chasing squeaky toys, playing tug-of-war like it’s a competitive sport, and perfecting the art of fetch, though he’s still working on the "bring it back" part (but hey, practice makes perfect, right?). Gage is a medium-sized bundle of love, weighing in around 60 pounds, with an athletic build and the soulful eyes of a dog who’s ready to bond deeply with his new family. He gets along wonderfully with other dogs, especially those who enjoy a good romp! He absolutely adores people and is always game for belly rubs, cuddles, or just sitting beside you like a loyal little shadow. He’s been gentle and friendly around everyone he’s met, and he seems like he’d be a great match for families with children, too. He’s crate trained, house-trained, and doing great with basic commands like “sit.” He’s currently learning “stay,” “come,” and “down” with positive reinforcement and a bit of that hound-dog determination. He handles being alone for short periods like a champ and has a routine that includes early wakeups, outdoor time, and cozy evenings in his kennel or bed. Gage's guardian was unable to schedule his neuter due to limited availability at their local clinic, so he has not yet been neutered. His adoption will require that he be neutered by his new family, and our team can provide guidance and resources to support that process. Gage will bring along his personal starter pack: crate, bed, blankets, toys, food, and bowls, everything he needs to settle in and start his next chapter! Are you ready for endless games of tug, affectionate snuggles, and the happy chaos that only a joyful young pup like Gage can bring into your life? Reach out to adopt@joyfulpets.com and say hello to your next best friend!

Story
Duke is a 2-year-old hound with the heart of a guardian and the soul of a survivor. He was found in the Everglades bravely protecting two small dogs—his unlikely little pack. There’s no doubt Duke kept them safe in such a dangerous environment, and now this loyal boy deserves someone to protect and love him. When Duke first arrived at the shelter, he was scared and unsure, but each day he opens up a little more and adores his human friends. He greets us with tail wags and even hugs! He ignores most other dogs so would be happy to be the only pet in a home. He lives for tennis balls and stuffed toys! Duke is quiet, house-trained, and full of potential. He’s looking for a patient, loving home where he can finally feel safe and cherished. He is vaccinated, microchipped and neutered. Duke is currently being treated for Heartworm, but Abandoned Pet Rescue will continue to provide this medical care until fully treated. Could you be the hero Duke’s been waiting for?
