Story
Hubert is a coonhound mix estimatd to be 1-2 years old. He is very high energy and would do best with someone who can fulfill his exercise needs and/or someone with land. He is currently being fostered with dogs, cats, and a toddler. He plays rough with other dogs. He would do fine as a solo dog, but if there are other dogs in the house, they should be young with similar play styles. Hubert will sometimes run towards the cats and "play bow" in an attempt to play with them. He has big, goofy, puppy energy, and because of this, he will do best in a house with older kids. In no way is he aggressive. He was found on the street and was taken in. He has tested negative for heartworm, but will need a final test at the vet in August 2026. He is neutered, up-to-date on all vaccines, microchipped, and ready for his forever home. Hubert's adoption fee is $350. Story
💔 Meet Optimus Prime 💔 Optimus Prime is a very shy, fearful boy who hasn’t had an easy start in life. He will need a home with another confident dog, as he relies on other dogs to feel safe. He came to us from our friends at the Seminole Tribe and had to be humanely trapped because he was too scared to approach people. The world is still overwhelming for Optimus. Although he’s been in a foster home with another dog and is making progress, it is slow and fragile. He’s just beginning to learn what safety and trust feel like. Optimus will need a very quiet, calm home with a patient adopter who understands that he cannot be rushed. He will not thrive in a busy or unpredictable environment. He’s not the dog that will run up to greet you—but he’s the one who needs you the most. 🖤 If you have the heart and patience to give Optimus the life he deserves, please fill out an application at runawaysanimalrescue.org.

Story
Meet Bruno - a 5-year-old Great Dane/Coonhound mix weighing in at 92 lbs of love. Bruno was adopted from us as a puppy and has been deeply loved and exceptionally cared for his entire life. Sadly, due to life-threatening allergies affecting their young son, his family has made the heartbreaking decision to return him to us. These are loving owners who have tried everything possible and do not want to give him up. They’ve been faced with a terrible decision 😔 Bruno has always been a family dog, sleeping in a home surrounded by people who love him ❤️ ✨ About Bruno: • Friendly, social, smiley boy • Loves people, cuddles, naps, walks, and sniffing adventures • Great with other dogs & kids • Crate trained • Knows multiple commands including sit, stay, place, crate and back up • Does well at doggy daycare and the vet • Very affectionate - he’ll literally put his head in your hands and fall asleep ❤️ Bruno is mostly a giant couch potato who loves cozy beds and being near his people, but he is a big, strong boy. He can get excited when people come and go and sometimes forgets his size. Because of this, he would do best with active adults or a family comfortable handling large breeds. He walks well with a gentle leader, enjoys getting outside for fresh air and long sniffy walks. Let’s help this sweet giant land softly during a heartbreaking transition 🖤 Bruno is fostered in Sarasota and his adoption fee is $250. He is up to date on vaccines, heartworm negative, microchipped, and neutered. Adopt ➡️ www.love4pawsfl.org/adopt

Story
Cal is a young, adult male mastiff/coonhound mix looking for a home where he can share all his love. He had a rough start in life as a stray left to fend for himself. He was found by an altruistic person that offered him a temporary home. During this time, it was determined that Cal had likely been struck by a car sustaining a rear leg fracture that healed improperly. Circumstances changed in his foster home and Cal made Satchel's his home. As time passed, it became evident that his broken leg, although healed, was not functioning properly. After extensive medical evaluation, it was determined that the best course of action for a pain free and active life was to amputate the limb. Now, Cal is the fun-loving guy he was always destined to be, running and playing without discomfort. He races about on his three legs, jumps the hurtles in the agility yard and navigates the tube tunnel with more exhilaration than any other dog at Satchel's! Cal feels most comfortable with slow introductions to unfamiliar people but once he chooses a new friend, he is an adoring canine companion. He exudes happiness, jumping with joy when he spots his favorite staff members or volunteers and is most content when being pet by his friends. He is easy to walk, enjoys car rides, and wants to be in close proximity to his loved ones. His new family will likely never sit on the couch alone again! Cal has lived with another canine in the home and has not exhibited any indications that this would not be possible again in the future. For an appointmentto meet him, please submit the adoption application (no commitment) found on our website satchelslastresort.org/adopt/
