Story
Ace LOVES people. Ace is about 4-5 yrs old, 83lbs. He needs to be an only animal in the household. He looks exactly like a Treeing Walker Hound and has a strong prey drive. He has killed cats, chipmunks, possums. He briefly lived on a farm before us and attacked a sheep. Ace is flexible, agile, and smart. He is friendly and affectionate with all the humans in our home. Ace does want to roam outside whenever possible and by whatever means. He can escape a 4 ft fence. He unlocks doors, opens lever handles (both inward and outward swinging doors). He considers fence/home a puzzle to escape from. He will return, once he know where home is but catching him is very difficult. He is not food motivated. He will destroy a standard crate, and while contained howls constantly. Ace sleeps on the bed at night and naps on the couch. His favorite game is tug. He "talks" a lot, very common to the breed. We're desperate after a fight between him and our Pyrenees. Ace must be an only dog.

Hi, I'm Winston! I was at the shelter when I was just a tiny pup, but now I'm back through no fault of my own. I'm a sweet, goofy, and personable boy. I'm around 5.5 years old and am a Lab/Coonhound mix- what a great combo! I seem to be potty-trained and I get along well with other dogs.  If you're interested in adopting me, please fill out an application at www.polkcountyhumanesociety.org/adopt. You can also reserve an appointment to meet me. Some pets are in foster homes or may already have visits scheduled, so appointments help ensure I’ll be available. Polk County Humane Society is located in Bolivar, Missouri, and we welcome adopters from any state. We have access to a transport to Aurora, CO. Other outofstate adopters either travel to Missouri or arrange & pay for air transport. Virtual meetandgreets are available on the appointment request. ##1087093##
