I am 46lbs, and I am looking for my forever home. Adoption Donation: $450 All dogs are microchipped, neutered, current on all vaccines, heartworm tested (if age appropriate), and up-to-date on preventatives at the time of adoption. All household members and any dogs from the household need to be present to be able to adopt. A photo ID will be required at the time of adoption. Appointments are recommended. All applications are considered general. Specific animals are NOT put on hold for adoption. When you visit, our adoption counselors will be able to make suggestions based on the type of pet you are looking for and help you find the best fit for your family. Animal House Shelter cannot guarantee the breeds of the adoptable animals. The animals are posted on the website as the breed or breed mix based on their physical characteristics they most resemble. Disclaimer: This animal is not in Anderson custody. and is a courtesy post to help a member of the community rehome directly without shelter intervention. Anderson Humane makes no guarantees regarding medical or behavioral status of this animal, and the current owner is solely responsible for disclosing any challenges or concerns. Her vet visit with Meadow View Veterinary Clinic this past July. If you need any additional information, you can contact them directly also. I give her heartworm chews monthly usually at the end of the month. She gets the yearly injection for flea and tic. She has gone to Over the Moon for training, 630-879-9265, this past July. She went a couple of times. This was mostly for helping with pulling and following on the leash. She has gotten better compared to when we first moved here, but she still can pull and veer off to the side, especially when she sees other animals, ie; squirrels, dogs, bunnies, etc. The commands she knows are sit, give paw, lay down. Sometimes, stay, and come here. Her reactivity is mostly that she gets excited when she sees people and dogs. She starts jumping up and down and barking and tries to go toward them. When we go to the dog park and if another dog comes in, she will run to it and then lay on her side with her tail wagging between her legs. She cowers downs. She has never gone after another dog or person with aggression. She is good with adults and children. I would mostly say, because she is a big girl, small children would have to be watched. She just wants to lick and get pets and hugs from everyone. She gets very excited. She does not piddle from the excitement. Once she does settle down, she will stay with that person and sit and look for attention from them. She is a very loving girl. She is housebroken and up to date on her shots. She is due for vaccines in November. I have attached her most recent invoice from visit this past July. She is very good with smaller dogs. We also have a pug, and they play together. They do not fight. She is not food aggressive. We also used to have a cat, and she would play with her. The cat and dog would come up to her when she eats and Hazel ignored them. Never a growl or anything. When she is finished, she would try to eat the other animals’ food too.

Haze is as lovable as they come. He is a total sweetheart who adores toys especially anything that squeaks. He has a classic hound bark and a high prey drive, so if your yard is not fenced, he will need to stay on a leash outside to keep everyone safe.Haze is house trained, crate friendly, and settles well but he will let out a little howl when his person leaves (just to make sure you know he will miss you!) Around the house he is a gentle, goofy giant. He has become much more confident on hardwood floors but when he hops off the couch, he prefers stepping onto a rug for traction. Speaking of the couch, he is an expert level couch potato who is fully convinced he is a 25 pound lap dog instead of a 77 pound one. He is great with kids and is an all around very good boy. If you are looking for a loyal, affectionate, toy loving companion who brings a big personality and even bigger snuggles, this boy might be your perfect match! Haze is 1-1/2 years old and weighs 77 pounds.The adoption fee for adult dogs, seven months and older, is $250. All pets are microchipped, up to date on vaccines, and will be altered prior to adoption. If you are interested in meeting a dog, please stop by the shelter during open hours. Dogs may be in a foster home, therefore scheduling an appointment is recommended. If you have an existing dog at home, we recommend bringing it along to meet your possible new family member.helpingstrays.org

We can’t believe he’s the one left, because this 4.5-month-old cutie (possibly a Coonhound/Pittie mix) is an absolute dream puppy. Tucker is gentle, easygoing, and wonderful with kids and other dogs. He loves to play, then happily curl up for a good nap—either in your lap or snuggled against his doggy friends. He’s a total cuddle bug who just wants to be close to his people. He’s doing fantastic in the crate and sleeps through the night without a sound. With a steady routine, he’s learning quickly and already showing what a smart, eager-to-please pup he is. Potty training is coming along nicely, and he knows exactly when it’s bedtime and trots right to his crate. Tucker is affectionate, calm, social, and so ready to be someone’s best friend. Finch is red tick coonhound with a voice like David Allen Coe. He has many typical hound tendencies like being vocal, constant curiosity and nose to the ground, but he is also very food motivated. He LOVES going on walks, treats, and is dog friendly and would like a dog brother or sister in his forever home. He is potty trained in his foster home that he has lived in for 2 years. Finch is a sensitive guy. He comes from a home where he was unsure of new people but generally tolerated them outside of the home. He is more protective of himself and his family when people enter his home if he is not comfortable with them. However, his foster mom has found that if they, along with the new person and his foster dog sister, goes for a walk outside then he's more comfortable allowing the new person inside the home when done. They have also found success if he is on leash and treated when the new person enters that also works well. We do not recommend small children as it can take him a while to feel comfortable and trust his surroundings. Finch will need a family committed to him and his future socialization if they want to have success with this gorgeous copper guy.
