She arrived at a severely overcrowded shelter with her back right leg completely snapped in half, dragging painfully behind her small 34-pound body. The damage was too severe to save it, and her only chance at a pain-free life was amputation. But with rescue, love, and the will to live, Shelby fought her way back. Today, she’s not just surviving — she is thriving.This girl is PROOF that three legs don’t slow a dog down one bit. She is unbelievably fast, extremely energetic, and loves sprinting, playing, and wrestling with all the other dogs like she’s been doing it her whole life. She is a full-speed, joy-filled tripod rocket.  Shelby would do best in a home with a fence, so she can run and play freely. Shelby also carries mangled scars around her neck — quiet reminders of what she’s endured — yet her heart remains the gentlest thing on earth. She’s affectionately nicknamed “Miss Smiley” because every time someone approaches her, she lifts her lip in the most heart-melting “Elvis grin.” It’s her way of saying thank you and I love you all at once.
