Story
Just one look at Lil Daddy's face and you'll understand why everyone falls in love with him.  That happy smile that invites to stop and play with him for a while and those adorable long floppy hound dog ears that beg for you to pet them and run them through your fingers.  He looks at you for love with some very sweet eyes and a face that makes a marks on your heart.  That is Lil Daddy.  A puppy that is irresistible and who was born around March 9th and to a litter of 9 beautiful pups to a gentle Redbone Coonhound mix mom. Like his brothers and sisters, he didn't have the easiest start in life and arrived in rescue a little underweight. Since coming to Critter Cavalry Rescue on June 29, he's been getting plenty of nutritious food, lots of love, and every chance to grow into the healthy, happy puppy he was always meant to be. Today, Lil Daddy weighs 16 pounds (7/11} and is expected to mature into a handsome 45–50-pound companion. While his mom is a Redbone mix, we're convinced there's another wonderful breed or two in his family tree. Maybe Lab...maybe Aussie...or perhaps even a little Cocker Spaniel, judging by those impossibly cute ears! Whatever his mix may be, one thing is certain—he's absolutely perfect just the way he is. A loving 'cuddle bug' is what his foster mom has labeled him.   Lil Daddy is everything you hope for in a puppy. Curious. Joyful. Smart. Affectionate. He's already using pee pads like a champ when he can't make it outside, and he's beginning to learn about crates, leashes, and all the exciting adventures that come with growing up.   This little guy wakes up every day ready to discover the world. Whether he's exploring the backyard, playing with other dogs, making friends with cats, or greeting complete strangers with a wagging tail, Lil Daddy approaches life with confidence and happiness. He truly believes everyone is a friend he just hasn't met yet.   Because he's an active, intelligent puppy, Lil Daddy will thrive with a family that enjoys spending time outdoors. A securely fenced yard would be wonderful, or an active family committed to daily walks, trips to the dog park, and plenty of playtime and training. He's eager to learn and will blossom with the guidance, consistency, and love that every puppy deserves.   Lil Daddy isn't just looking for a home. He's looking for his people—the family who will celebrate his silly puppy moments, teach him new things, laugh at his antics, and love him through every stage of life. In return, he'll fill your days with laughter, companionship, and unconditional love for years to come.   If your heart skipped a beat when you saw Lil Daddy, it may be because he's been waiting for someone just like you.   To learn more about adopting Andy, please contact Critter Cavalry Rescue at ccrtennessee@gmail.com. All adoptions are done on a first come, first adopt basis for pre-approved applicants. The Shelter software system requires that we choose a predominant breed or breed mix for our dogs. Visual breed identification in dogs is unreliable so for most of our dogs we are only guessing at predominant breed or breed mix. Story
Meet Sophie: A 2–3 Year-Old Mix Looking for a Forever Home-we’re not sure the mix, but one vet thought Coonhound. We were guessing Mastiff, but she isn’t huge though. Maybe when all filled in, 80-85 lbs. Sophie is a courageous and affectionate dog who recently traveled from Texas to find her. Age/Breed:** 2–3 years old Location:** Bozrah, CT History:** Has undergone heartworm treatment and completed obedience training Personality:** Sweet, eager to please, and full of potential with the right guidance What Sophie Needs in a Home Large-breed experienced adopter: ** Understanding decompression and how to work with a rescued dog helps set them up for success with their new family Kids: Sophie is really good with the children in her foster home (ages 9 and 11). Note: Any new dog should have supervised introductions with kids in the home. Other dogs:** Gets along with larger dogs with proper introductions. This standard applies to every adopted dog. We do not recommended cats or small dogs for Sophie. Intro/Decompression:** A patient, slow-introductions approach will bring out the best in Sophie. Important Notes Protections and patience are key. Following a decompression plan will help Sophie settle into her new routine and become the best dog in your home. Story
In November 2024, Firestarter was discovered at a dump site in rural Alabama with heavy chains and metal rods cuffed to her leg. She was terrified of everything and everyone. Over time and thanks to her foster’s patient care, she learned to trust again. Firestarter has grown into a charming extrovert who loves the company of people and other dogs. She gets along with cats too—as long as they don’t mind her playful nature! Although she’s an active girl with an adventurous spirit, she’s exceptionally well-behaved and mellow at home once she has had her daily walks. Firestarter is fostered in Ridgefield, CT, and is available for local or out-of-state adoption as long as the adopter can travel to meet her. To get the adoption process started, please send us an application at https://bit.ly/rosr-adopt-foster.

Story
Introducing Wren — A Hound with Heart! Before arriving at the shelter, Wren’s life was a sad one. He spent his days tied up outside, without the comfort and care every dog deserves. Now he’s discovering what a humane life indoors feels like, and he’s slowly learning that the world can be a much kinder place.Wren is a medium-sized, very sweet boy who absolutely loves his walks. Like the true hound he is, he enjoys following interesting scents along the trail and keeping a watchful eye out for squirrels and rabbits. When something exciting catches his attention, you might hear the classic houndy howl that hound lovers know and adore. This affectionate boy loves to be loved and is highly motivated by treats. In fact, Wren is clever enough to quickly figure out which pocket holds the goodies, and he’ll happily give it a curious nudge with his nose.Because of his hound instincts and personality, Wren would do best with experienced hound owners who understand and appreciate the breed. A cat-free home will be important for him as well.Wren has come a long way from the lonely life he once knew. Now he’s ready for a home where he can finally be what he was always meant to be: a beloved companion. You can begin the adoption process for Wren right now by filling out an application on our website, www.humanecny.org; or email info@humanecny.org; or call us at (315) 457-8762.Contact HumaneCNY if interested in this animal. You can fill out application to adopt at the shelter.
