Story
https://foha.org/pet/gumby2026/ 🌟 Meet Gumby! 🐾 ABOUT THIS ANIMAL: Gumby is a happy, playful boy who is ready to stretch his way right into your heart! Friendly and confident, he loves getting out for adventures, spending time with people, and making sure nobody forgets he's there—especially if you're giving another dog attention when you could clearly be paying attention to him. This fun-loving guy is a big fan of toys. Squeaky toys, tennis balls—you name it, Gumby is ready to play! He can happily entertain himself with his toys but also loves interactive play with his people. When he's ready for affection, his cuddly side comes out in the sweetest way. He'll bury his head right into your lap and soak up all the love you're willing to give him. Gumby has a nice balance of energy and the ability to settle. He's curious and confident exploring new places, though there are apparently limits to his bravery: suspiciously realistic dog statues deserve careful investigation, and centipedes are absolutely terrifying. He also enjoys a good wildlife sighting and may temporarily forget his leash manners when a whole herd of deer suddenly takes off nearby, but he's able to settle and get back to business with a little time. Like many enthusiastic dogs, Gumby is still polishing some of his manners. He can be jumpy or a little mouthy when excited and may occasionally decide that paper towels or furniture look like potential toys. The good news is that he's responsive to redirection—when told to leave something alone, he's shown that he can stop and choose an appropriate toy instead. He's food motivated, playful, and smart, giving his future family plenty of tools to continue his training. Gumby is a sweet, silly, affectionate boy who is ready for a family that will give him plenty of playtime, adventures, toys, and cuddles. Life with him is sure to come with lots of laughs—and hopefully very few centipedes. 🐕 HOW AM I WITH DOGS: I show a normal level of interest in other dogs and may pull a little toward them, but I'm easily redirected. My friends at FOHA can schedule a dog introduction if you have another dog at home. 🐱 HOW AM I WITH CATS: Unknown — just ask my friends at FOHA to conduct a cat test. 👶 HOW AM I WITH KIDS: Unknown — we recommend slow introductions to help everyone feel comfortable. I can be jumpy and occasionally mouthy when excited, so my future family should be prepared to continue working on my manners. 🎓 I KNOW THE FOLLOWING COMMANDS: I know sit, though I could use a little more practice! I'm treat motivated and responsive to redirection, so I'm ready to keep learning. 🏠 MY HOUSEBREAKING AND/OR CRATING: Unsure at this time. I spent time exploring the adoption office without any observed accidents or marking. 💖 THINGS I LIKE: Squeaky toys, tennis balls, treats, playing, cuddling, burying my head in your lap, exploring, adventures, and getting plenty of attention from my people. ⚠️ THINGS I DISLIKE: Centipedes. Absolutely not. I can also be unsure about a few unfamiliar things and may get extra excited when wildlife appears, but I recover quickly and am generally a confident, curious guy. Story
Meet Millie 🤍 Millie came to us after our field team found her sick and chained outside — but if you met her today, you'd never guess how hard her start was. She is pure sweetness, the kind of dog who just wants to be close to you and soak up every bit of love she can get. And honestly? She's earned it. She's currently working through heartworm treatment, taking things slow and resting up — but she's handling it like a champ. In the meantime, she's been discovering what it feels like to be truly cared for: cool air, soft beds, a full belly, and a family who adores her. Safe to say she's settling in just fine. When she's ready, Millie will be looking for a home where she can keep right on being loved. She does great with kids and other dogs, and we think she'll thrive anywhere she's given the chance to just be a dog — cherished, comfortable, and finally at peace. She didn't have someone in her corner before. Now she does — and we're not stopping until she has a forever home to match. We urge you to apply to adopt Millie if a sweet hound sounds like the perfect addition to your family🐾
