Story
Meet Hondo! If you’re looking for a four legged best friend who is ready to make you the center of his universe, meet Hondo!Hondo is a handsome Corgi/Australian Shepherd mix with the best of both breeds. He’s built like your typical Corgi; long, low, and sturdy. With the soft, fuzzy coat of an Aussie. And this boy has plenty of personality to match his adorable looks!Hondo is a high energy, adventure loving dog who wants to go wherever you go. He loves hiking, running alongside the four wheeler, exploring, and being included in whatever his person is doing. Despite his enthusiasm for adventure, Hondo is wonderfully polite in public and is a well mannered passenger on long car rides. He’s also a social guy! Hondo does well with dogs, cats, and livestock, making him a great fit for an active home with other animals. He is potty trained and can happily spend the workday relaxing in his kennel, where he is content and polite.Hondo’s dream home is definitely in the country. He thrives on a property where he has room to stretch his legs, explore, and burn off some of that Aussie Corgi energy. He has a good recall and does well coming when called. Because of his energy level and need for activity, apartment living would not be a good fit for Hondo. When Hondo gets excited about an activity, he can be a little vocal; he has opinions, after all! But once he’s inside and settled, he generally knows how to use his inside voice and enjoys being a good house companion.Hondo isn’t looking for a life of sitting on the sidelines. He wants a person or family who will include him in the adventure, give him room to run, and make him feel like their very best friend. If you’re ready for a loyal, energetic, fun loving companion who wants to be by your side wherever life takes you, Hondo is ready to meet you! Hondo is 10 months old and weighs 30 pounds. All pets are microchipped, up to date on vaccines, and will be altered prior to adoption. If you are interested in meeting a dog, please stop by the shelter during open hours. Dogs may be in a foster home, therefore scheduling an appointment is recommended. If you have an existing dog at home, we recommend bringing it along to meet your possible new family member.helpingstrays.org
